Thumbs up DVB-T with HE-AAC audio in Norway is working (6.4.2 beta)

Just FYI

I do not use DVB-T as primary tuner myself (look my signature). Just testing it with a cheap TerraTec Cinergy XS USB tuner (DVB-T). My folks might start using it.

Anyway. With the 6.4.2 beta. It is now possible to tune (with sound) RiksTV channels over DVB-T here in Norway. I used a DirectShow libfaad2 Wrapper Filter that is available if you have licensed DVBViewer. For HE-AAC audio. The MONOGRAM decoder mentioned elseware actually just killed SageTV each time I tried to tune.

Another positive thing. The EPG got grabbed from the DVB-T for a full 7 days.

Here are the entries to add to PredefinedDVBT.frq:

Code:
"Norway-Oslo"
	frq:722000000;band:8;
	frq:770000000;band:8;
	frq:794000000;band:8;
	{tune:1;pat:6;sdt:16;}
Have sent a 'bug' report with frequencies. So hope to get them into next release.

Note. All this was tested just for fun in a few spare moments. There are probably several things that works / do not work and so on. Not going to look much more into it myself. I'm off to destroy my perfectly rock solid 6.3.10 installation with upgrade to 6.4.2 beta

I'd be interested to know if you have any success with playing the DVB-T channels on your HD Extender.

No problem. It's late now I'll give it a shot tomorrow and report back, and I'll remember to update to beta firmware on the HD Extender.

Gave the HD Extender a test with 6.4.2 beta. Sorry to say, would not work very good. Sound is missing. Video is shown, but it stutters, plays a little, pauses, plays a little, pauses.

On my PC client it still works ok (with the audio wrapper for DirectShow).

Did a 1min recording of one channel. Have put the file here if anybody needs it for some reason:
http://miwsoft.dyndns.org/_temp_2008...510_1202-0.zip

SageTV gives following info for this recording:
MPEG2-PS[H.264 576i, AAC/7Kbps@24kHz Stereo]

Thanks for confirming that. It's exactly the same symptoms as I'm getting here. Looks like there is a little more work required by SageTV on the H.264(PAFF)/HE-AAC(LATM) combination on the extender and MVP. Hopefully they will be able to get it working in this beta cycle.

Did a quick test with the new TSSplitter.ax. No change. Still playing 1sec video, sort of pause 0.5sec, repeat pattern. And no sound. I did this with new recordings done through the new TSSplitter.ax.

No audio and pausing video playback on HD Extender
No audio and smooth video playback on MVP
Good audio and Video on PC with ArcSoft H.264 video codec and Monogram AAC codec.
