How to implement a ew FRQ file??

I`ve followed the Wiki, and other posts detailing how to edit a FRQ file, and I`ve never been able to get these instructions to work. I simply can`t get my channel lineup to change after I`ve changed the FRQ file.

At the moment I`m doing the following to try and get a FRQ file recognised::

Disable all channels.
Stop Sage TV service.
Edit FRQ file
Start Sage TV service
Enable All channels
The Channel lineup is *unchanged*

Why?!!!!

Can someone please point me to some step by step instructions on how to edit your FRQ file, so that new entries appear in your channel lineup??

Thanks!!

The .frq file is created during a channel scan, not read during the san. I think that if you edit the .frq file, you would have to manually add the channel to the lineup yourself.

But, what you could do is rename the .frq file to .scn, then edit the .scn file. During a channel scan, the .scn file is read, if it exist, and a matching .frq file is created. If you need to scan to find new channels later, though, you would have to move or rename the .scn file because if it exists, it is used as the entire scan instead of actually scanning frequencies to see what channels can be found.

Thanks, gave it a try and got a bunch of channels which are just a string of numbers. I cant tune to these new channels, just "no signal"

Im prety sure my .scn file should be OK, because I got it from the sage wiki.

Sage TV is not for the feint of heart. Its a nightmare to configure!

I use XMLTV so basically I do this;

1. Got to Channel set up.
2. Select your source
3. Select EPG lineup
4. Chose Do Not Use Program Guide Data with this source
5. DO NOT SCAN FOR CHANNELS
6. Click Done.
7. Repeat 2 - 6 but chosing XMLTV at step 4.
8. DO NOT SCAN FOR CHANNELS.
9. Stop and restart SageTV Server

This assumes you have already completed a channel scan and works for me 100% of time. I have tried other suggestions to no avail.
