Any Way Of Playing .ISO Via Sage?

Couple days ago I stumbled on to VLC Media Player (www.VideoLan.org).

Appears tb a Linux project that's been ported (rather successfully, IMHO) to Windows.

The big deal for me is that the 1.1 ghz Atom processor in my minimalist laptop over WiFi has no trouble at all rendering a movie DVD that I've ripped to .ISO and which lives on the SageTV server. Watched "Good Morning Viet-Nam" last nite, gonna call up "The Last King Of Scotland" tonite.

No problem there: I just fire up VLC and open the .ISOs directly.

But it would be nice if all those movies were available to the four TVs that I have HD200's under without having tb re-ripped to some other format.

So... bottom line: Is there a plug-in or something that will allow an HD200 to play .ISO files from a SageTV server?

I can still see the iso file. What am I doing wrong?

Done. But after I pulled the trigger on it, I discovered that the behavior is not specific to .ISO files. It happens with MPEG and MP4 files too.

I'm thinking some kind of network permission issue - but I don't know diddley about networking and have to observe that the HD200 was able to build a list of files... so it must have at least had Read access, right?

Do you have a share setup with share/guest security? You'll probably want to try the latest beta firmware for the HD200.

I did the firmware flash thing first off when putting the new devices into service. Dunno if that's the latest-and-greatest or not.... or how to flash it with anything else.

As far as security goes, dunno from "guest", but all the PCs on my little network can get to that drive, open files, change files, and delete files - as evidenced by creating a little .txt file, changing it, saving it, and then deleting it.

By default in Windows the guest account has no access to the shares. The guest account is NOT a member of the Everyone group. You explictly have to give the guest account access to any share.

That was it. Guest had been disabled - probably the default behavior of XP install.

I enabled it, rebooted, and .ISOs played just fine.

Now, if I can figure out a way to recall that bug report.....and maybe change it to a recommendation for some more verbiage in the user guide....
