tuning troubles
at the end of every program i watch, it appears that sage forgets i'm not using pal, and switches back - right clicking, then selecting the guide, and re-tuning the program fixes the problem, but, this means i HAVE to be present to start every recording. any ideas on how to fix it?
i ditched the pinnacle card on my profile and am now using the hvr 1600 from hauppauge. the auto re-tune channel setting doesn't seem to have an impact whether off or on. Ken btw i'm tuning channel 3 and using an ir blaster (or trying to) to change channels on my set top box. this isn't quite working yet either...

I also have an HVR-1600, and am also having a problem. I read your posts and not sure if they are related (I think not but since you posted 3 times with no response thought I'd at least ask).
My symptom is that when unRAID tries to tune the HVR, it does not always tune successfully and I get "No Signal". If this happens while I am watching TV, I can just change to another channel and then come back to this channel and all is well. But if this happens on a scheduled recording, the recording just fails. Can you elaborate on your issue? Is it anything like this? I'm no expert but may have a suggestion if I understood your setup and problem better. You mentioned in your first post something about an auto re-tune option you experimented with. Can you be more specific? I looked and didn't see such a setting. There is an "always tune" setting. Is that what you are describing? If not, I'd like to try that and see if it impacts my problem. I was able to locate (but haven't tried yet) an updated (beta) version of the Hauppauge drivers (4.8). I want to install them and see if it fixes my problem, but am having a problem scheduling time. My wife is trying Sage out and seems to have it recording every evening. BTW, I have a 2 tuner HDHR and am not having any problem with it. My problem seems uniquely with the HVR-1600. It is set up as the 3rd string tuner, so does not frequently come into play. |

Are you sure you selected NTSC instead of PAL when setting up Sage?

Yes, it works fine as long as i force it to re-tune the channel between tv programs. If i do a scheduled recording and force it to record for a certain period of time, it works flawlessly until the time period is up. Then it goes wonky again. What i'm seeing is wavy lines that make the picture un-watchable, it looks like the channel has been scrambled or something, every now and then you can catch a glimpse of the picture. the sound is un-affected. all drivers have been updated, i've downloaded the latest beta drivers (after the last persons post) and no luck. using the latest beta of sage tv.

it would seem alot of folks have had trouble with the hvr 1600 (if the threads on it in the forum are any indication). i tried several registry edits, and had no luck with that either.

There is an "always tune" setting.
--- yeah that was what i meant. What else would you like to know? I'm not sure if you've ever had cable, but, the effect i'm seeing looks like your trying to watch a scrambled ppv channel over cable. If I right click, -> program guide -> whichever channel i'm watching, the issue goes away. Since i haven't been able to get my ir blaster to work, and i have a set top box, i change channels with my stb remote, and then select the same channel within sage, which is a hassle, but i just haven't figured that out yet. fixed, yay!
heard back from sage tv customer service, and they suggested the following.
I'm posting it here, on the chance someone needs it down the line some time. Close SageTV and the service if running. Open up your Sage.properties file in the SageTV folder and look for this line: seeker/fast_mux_switch= And set it to false. That fixed it.... now if only i can get my hauppauge ir blaster working right
