HDHomeRun on Windows 7
Anyone make any attempts/have any success using the HDHomeRun with Sage on Windows 7 Beta? I figured I'd give Win7 a shot, as it seems it would make for a nice sage platform, but for some reason I can't add the HDHomeRun as a source. I have it all set up with the latest Sage software, and the latest HDHR software and firmware. The HDHR scans and finds my clearQAM channels, and can play them back in VLC. It creates the .SCN files in the SageTV folder, and I can select HDHomeRun-0 to add it. The only option after that is to choose teh Digital TV Tuner, and upon doing so, that's wher ehtings stop. I get the message telling me to wait while it loads the preview video, then a lightning fast error message pops up something about cannot communicate with the encoder, then i get back to the "Please Wait while loading the preview video", and that's where it stays. I cannot click Digital TV Tuner again to continue, my only option is Alt-F4. I have attempted disabling the firewall and UAC. Ihave run botht he hdhr software and sagetv as administrator.. somthing is just not talking right. I even tried switching teh HDHR to Other/Remap mode, and it still does teh same thing in Sage.

Make sure you're using the beta driver for HDHR, not the production version. It's in the forum thread.

Yeah, this was with the beta drivers from the silicon dust forum. also the latest sage from the beta. It was the 64-bit version of win7, not sureif that affects anything.. i am planning on trying out the 32-bit version to see if that makes a difference (silicondust says that the drivers are good for 32 and 64 bit, and they load up as a 64 bit program (program files, vs. program files (x86))

Well, as an update, I reinstalled, with win7 32-bit, and it seems to be functioning okay. not sure if i just had a bad install of the 64bit, or it it is an actual incompatability, but hopefully it'll continue working for me this way.

Didn't work for me
I tried SageTV 6.5.9 and the beta 6.5.8on Windows 7 64bit and had the exact same problem, stalling when selecting digital tuner HDHomerun. I tried pointing the HDHomerun driver to Sage and rescanning with setup, but no avail. I reinstalled the 32 bit version of Win7 and it was still quite a chore. The video would not work in spite of finding the channels. Occasionally it would show a preview in the setup section of the channel lineup, but signal strength was often 0% with no image. I tried upgrading to the current HDHomerun beta drivers, but also no luck. Perhaps this is an issue with my relatively new video card nvidia gtx285, but it works fine on Windows Media Center, 32 or 64bit. Disappointing as I wanted to try SageTV on Windows 7 for better storage options and blew about 4 hours in this effort.

Well, I have had no real playback issues with Win7 32-bit so far. I've actually gotten pretty good results using the new Microsoft DTV-Video Decoder, and EVR. Seems quite clear.. though that being said, I'm in the process of setting up an R-5000HD with a Dish 211, so we'll see how/if the microsoft decoder can do the H.264 any justice.
