Recommendations: Dual Digital Tuner
I'm looking for advice on what is recommended for a Dual Digital Tuner for my system. I'm looking for something that I can record two Digital OTA channels at a time. My current Box only has two PCI slots. Some of the tested working cards on the SageTV site don't seem to be available any longer. I'm also willing to be pointed to any exceptional deals.
Thanks |

I'll second that! HDHomerun is a very stable tuner for both ATSC and QAM tuning. It just works!

I third it!
I have 2 hdhr running for over 6 months with no issues. |

my hauppauge 2250 works great, it is pci express 1x though so you won't be able to use it if you only have pci. You could always use usb tuners, however I have never used them so I have no clue of their reliability.

Anther vote for the HDHR. I have two now. Used to use one for QAM tuning. Now I have the two for ATSC tuning. They both work great.

I'll... uh... one... two... three... four... EIGHTH the HDHR.
As I always like to point out, the advantage of the HDHR being network (as opposed to internal card) is that you can locate it closer to the antenna and shorten the length of lossy coaxial cable run. This can actually allow you to get better reception or even more channels, depending on your OTA reception situation. All you have to do then is fish that CAT cable!

Wow, they couldn't have picked a better day to go on sale because I just last night ran into my first QAM conflict where I couldn't record the new episode of House.

I'm thinking of picking up a second one. The HDHR is an awesome, trouble-free tuner. I wish SiliconDust had created the HD-PVR....

I have 2 now. Was just thinking getting a 3rd. Recording just SD from these look better than analog + the files size is smaller. I only use my HDHR now for HD only.

How does the HDHR compare to pc card turners like the Cats Eye DTA-150 or the Fusion tuners for fringe OTA reception? I would like to add a tuner or two to my system but I live a long way from the towers and weak signal reception is a must. I am using the DTA-150 PCI tuners now and get mostly good reception from them. They seem to be discontinued now however.

The HDHR isn't the *best* tuner, but it is a decent one. The XC5000 chip stills exceeds what the HDHR has.. http://www.xceive.com/technology_XC5000.htm
I cannot really talk about fringe reception at all, other than theoretical stuff, as i am literally 5 miles *line of sight* from my rooftop antenna to Philly's antenna farm....
