[FIXED] HD-200 Arrived Today: Not a good start....
Gave it static IP.
Pointed it to one of my videos (an a ReadyNAS) and asked it to play. It says it's gettin' ready to etc.....then 'Error: ERROR (-2) File no longer on disk' or words to that effect. That first file was .mkv So I try an Xvid .avi - same thing. Then I try a dvd iso. Same thing. Then I update firmware - try again - same thing. Then I add a folder to media import - HD-200 reports it can't find any video files (lots of avis in nested folders). It says the same thing for music folders, and picture folders. Yet if I tell it to view a picture it will display it. My ReadyNAS serves up files all damn day long to XBMCs and PC's over SMB with no passwords etc.... Why can't the HD-200 get to them??? I am updating with beta firmware at the moment. The ReadyNAS has jumbo frames enabled, and is connected to a gigabit switch, but from that switch to the HD-200 there are two 10/100 switches in stream. This is the same path that my bedroom XBOX streams from with 100% reliability, also have ReplayTV on this same line that streams from other ReplayTVs reliably. This 100% copper, no wireless in the chain. The HD-200 is connected using cable from box - and behaves the same if connected to the netwrok in my office (much closer to the ReadyNAS). Guess I'll try turning off Jumbo frames. Last edited by Slack; 02-14-2009 at 06:10 AM. Reason: Fixed |

Are you using the HD200 in standalone mode? I ask because you posted under the extender thread and wanted to be sure.
First off, I'd submit an support request to SageTV - be sure they know you're having issues and try to get some official help. Have you been able to import any video or other media thus far? |

For the moment - yeah it's standalone.
Later today, I plan to backup my Sage box currently @ Version 6.4, and upgrade to release candidate 6.5.8, then enable Sage server - and see how the HD-200 goes from there. But for now - I was just throwing files at it to see how it handled. ReadyNAS is doing a file system check after I rebooted, after I disabled jumbo frames, so I gotta wait a while to see if jumbo frames was the issue. |

It is not jumbo frames. Still can't play via smb with jumbo frames disabled.
I was able to play a video (mpg2) via USB drive. an Xvid.avi played from usb as well. Music imported from USB Video imported from USB and I played a dvd iso from usb. Disappointed to say the least. I was expecting no-issues out of the box, as these things (network streamers) are getting to the commodity / appliance / joe six pack level Guess I get to fill out a support ticket. |

Do you have the share setup for Guest access or does it require a username/pass? If the later, you'll need the latest beta firmware to support that.
And Jumbo frames or not should have no effect as IIRC the HD200 is only 100Mbps so no Jumbo frames. |

The ReadyNAS shares are all wide open. No authentication is required. The STP HD-200 can browse the folders at will, and it sees the files. It simply will not play them (excepting the two pictures I tried, .jpgs)
And I am running beta firmware on the STP HD-200. It never once asked for credentials. |

That sounds like authentication to me.
I would also run a long network cord to simplify the picture as a test. |

And if it is authentication, why does the HD-200 not ask for credentials?? As for the cabling. The HD-200 is now in my office, connected to same switch that the ReadyNAS is connected to. Still no go on smb hosted video or music. jpgs seem to display if aksed via network browser. Last edited by Slack; 01-31-2009 at 03:43 PM. |

Enable the debug logging in standalone mode, its in Settings > Advanced Setup > General. Then power off and on the HD-200, meaning pull the power plug. Then reproduce the problem, then connect to the HD-200's network share via a computer, fetch the sagetv_0.txt log file. Send it to tech support and I'm sure they will tell you what's the problem.

Will do. Since last post I upgraded Sage box and tunred on the server. As an extender this thing is a bit more impressive. All my OTA stuff plays fine (at least video wise, I have no audio up in my office it's just connected via component to my monitor). However, as an extender it will not play the videos in question, despite the fact that the Sage Box (server) does. Which raises the question. When acting as an extender, and I select a video from the library on the server (which would be on the ReadyNAS) does the bitstream go from ReadyNAS - to the server - then to the HD-200?? Or does it take the short cut. ReadyNAS - HD-200. |

In any case here is a lousy phone cam shot. My options in Settings>Advanced are as follows...
Believe me I have poked around hoping to find this logging feature you speak of. To no avail. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3342/...20c8e316_b.jpg Last edited by Opus4; 01-31-2009 at 11:28 PM. Reason: image too wide to be posted inline; changed to a link |

You need to do the 5309 thing on the System Information menu to enable the "hidden extras". Not sure why debug logging is a "hidden extra" though.

yep, sorry. I forgot that step. thanks stranger89.
enter 5309 on the remote at the system info screen. you see a blue bot on top left that signifies the hidden extras are enabled.

Thanks (to all) for the help and info on turning on debugging. I'll send this off and see what happens. |

Did you enable guest access on that share on your ReadyNAS? As you can see from the log it is trying to access the share via the guest account and it is being refused. You need to verify that on the share. If you don't have a guest account on the ReadyNAS then create one and give it permissions on the share. You could also try going into Advanced Options and give the group Everyone Read/Write permissions to the share.

I have poked around in Frontview looking for anything that would make sense. There seems to be no config option for 'guest' access in any of the cifs configuration dialogs i can see. I will go search the ReadyNAS boards.
Perhaps a firmware update. Edit: Think I found it. Seems there is a check box available in newer Radiator firmwares for 'allow guest access' on the CIFS protocol. I initiated an update from Frontview just now. 'If it aint broke don't fix it' is my motto. Results in my firmware getting a bit long in the tooth. Last edited by Slack; 02-01-2009 at 08:48 AM. |
