Eject? Eject anyone?

So day 10 of my conversion from Tivo to SAGE and we're doing pretty well. My wife did have one unhappy blip when she looked up and found the box rebooting....bad for the WAF, but she also knows (from years of living with me) that any transition to a new technology means there are bugs to chase. (I determined that the reboot seemed to be an infinite loop in the video driver, so perhaps that will get an update shortly.)

Here's the big issue giving us problems right now: My slot loading DVD ROM drive doesn't have an eject button.

Easier to show video:

So there IS one, I just can't get to it. Is there any secret sauce in the interface that lets me send an eject to the drive?

I have a few other issues, but I'll post them as separate threads to keep things clean.

One of the commands in SageTV you can set to a keystroke or remote code is Eject. Go to Detailed Setup | Commands.

I use Wizmo from Steve Gibson / grc.com

All you do is put the Wizmo .exe in a folder and create a shortcut in the same folder. I named it Wizmo Open.lnk Then open the shortcut properties and add, in the Target box after the program > wizmo open wizmo quiet

Using nielm's Dynamic Menu, you can add a menu item to the wizmo shortcut. Sounds harder than it is...it'll take about 2 minutes to do.

emuzombie: OK, if I can signal an eject via a custom keystroke or remote command, I'll look in to doing it that way.

I will still look in to using the wizmo as a fallback. One of the the other benefits of the Wizmo would be to set as a menu option so I didn't have to completely dedicate a keypad key to JUST eject.

Thanks to you both for some great ideas and suggestions.

You can create menu items to internal commands as well as external programs. See here for details.

However, I seem to recall that the internal Eject command works only on Linux, not on Windows.
