Can't configure Sagetv for Linux [Solved]
I built a Gentoo box and installed SageTV on it, but am unable to get to a configuration screen.
I have been using Gentoo for over 6 years, so I am pretty comfortable with installing the OS, configuring X etc. I downloaded the xml file that Sage supplies for a guided Gentoo install and basically followed the steps in that script. Here is what is working. Downloaded current Sage server and client for linux and was able to enter activation code for the server. The server seems to start up just fine, and I see ports listening on the server. When I start up the client on the desktop where the server is installed, I do get a gui box that pops up and sees both the local server, and my current Windows SageTV server that is working just fine on the same network. If I select the local Linux server, I see the sage splash screen and it says it's connecting, then it dies. If I choose the Windows Sage server, it connects just fine and works just fine, so I think it is safe to say the Linux client code is installed and working properly. I don't have any firewalls, SELinux or anything like that configured on the Gentoo Sage server. It is a pretty basic install with just SSH and Samba configured to run at startup. I guess I can start with turning on debug if somebody can point me to the howto for that? Also if anybody else has any ideas, please let me know. It is probably something simple that I am just missing. Thank you, --Paul Last edited by pzasso; 10-06-2008 at 10:50 AM. |

I don't run a linux client, but to turn on debug, add debug_logging=TRUE to Sage.properties

Thanks for the reponse on how to setup debug.
I am a little confused though. How did you intially setup your linux server if you didn't run the client code? Isn't that what starts by default when you install the server? Thanks, --Paul |

I'll use PS on a Mac or MVP/HD Extenders. I install with the tgz file not the deb packages.

I was not able to find where the debug output went, but I did notice a sagetv_x.txt file that gets generated everytime I start sage. Looking at those files I saw a message about a DB issue. I then noticed some Wiz.bin.corrupt files.
Here is what I did to fix it. rm Wiz.* ./keygen.sh entered activation key Now I can run the Linux client and configure the server. Thanks --Paul Last edited by pzasso; 10-08-2008 at 12:38 AM. |
