If you want a command (in addition to the existing Watched command) to cancel the recording of a particular favorite airing, fine; that may be worth discussing (although Watched seems adequate to me). But it should definitely not be the Stop command.

I too would like a command to stop a favourite recording while it is in progress. Even an old-fashioned VCR implements this functionality, and it does so without needing a separate button labelled "I've watched this".
The omission of a clear way to do this in Sage is so odd that I am surprised anybody bothers to defend it. |

I have run into situations where I needed to stop the recording of a single instance of a favorite so I would like to see it added as well but Greg is correct that the stop button is not the way to implement this.
I would put a "Reschedule this Airing" command in Recording Options if it were me. It does what is needed and is easy to understand. The other workarounds like purposely creating a conflict and marking watched are not intuitive and a bit kludgy even if they would work. S |

Amen.
There should be 'cancel this recording' and 'stop recording and delete partial file' options when you press the Stop button (or Stop Recording and then Keep or Delete file submenu). Stop IS the place to start this dialog. There should also be a 'cancel this recording' on the Recording Schedule menu. I don't know about anyone else, but no matter how often I tell Sage I don't like certain programs it keeps recording them. |

Also, sometimes when I cancel a recording in progress, it then starts recording it again. Very frustrating!!!

The biggest problem I have with IR recording things I've marked don't like is that it keeps trying to record the HD version of a favorite as an IR since the favorite is set for SD only.

For a Favorite setup as First Runs and Reruns, no "smart" recording scheduler, Sage seems to have no way to respond to a user who wants to cancel the current recording of that favorite. So "learn us" how to do so. Last edited by stevech; 03-14-2009 at 10:48 PM. |

Otherwise I guess I'm not sure why it matters. So Sage records the whole program, if you mark it watched or don't like during then it still get's handled like any other show. Once it's done you can easily delete it if you really needed to.

I've had success stopping a Favorite Recording by setting the recording to a Manual recording, then Cancel the recording.
