When I start SageTV from sleep mode, recording in progress is not displayed everytime

Currently, when I wake SageTV from sleep (if it's recording a show), sometimes it starts showing automatically what it's currently recording (which is what I want) and sometimes it doesnt and just sits there.

I would like this behavior predictable and dependable.

I would like to be able to see what it's recording (from the begining) automatically every time I wake SageTV from sleep mode. Currently, this feature appears to be random.

Thanks in advance!

What do you mean? Do you have it set to 'Always' play video as the background or in a window & it isn't doing that, the REC icon isn't shown at the top, or what?

Video is set to always and in background. When I start up SageTV, the window comes up and just stays in the Main Menu.

The problem is that I'm not getting consistent results when coming out of sleep mode (I send this command to it: "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageTV.exe" -event 44"

Sometimes, it will start showing the show it's recording from the beginining and other times it will just sit there and not display the video.

The reason I'm doing this is to have a 6pm morning alarm which starts up SageTV and show the morning news that starts recording at 6.

Currently, I can get sageTV to start at the right time, but playing back the show is hit or miss. I haven't found any consistency.

You're sure you are waking it with the #44, the Power Off command? Perhaps it should be 43? (I don't know if that was a typo.)

Anyway... see if it makes a difference whether you put SageTV to sleep from the Main Menu or a different menu. (unless you've already tried that... ?)

Yes Andy, it was a typo

I figured out a fool proof way to make SageTV to wake me up with the 6 Morning News

I have WinXP scheduler launch the below commands in a batch file, then nicely turns off the tv later. I have SageTV startup 1 minute before the recording is scheduled to record the Morning news in SageTV.

"C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageTV.exe" -event 43
"C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\SageTV.exe" -event 15
"C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\Morning TV Volume.qmx"

Volume.qmx is a config file for a tiny handy app (Quickmix) which which sets all my sound card mixer's volume levels to a predefined volume (in case I turn off SageTV with a high volume before going to bed).

BTW: you can use the SendMessage utility in your SageTV dir to send multiple commands from a single run of the program. I'm mentioning it because it has an option to delay for a period of time between commands... which might be important if you try to send a 2nd command too soon after waking it, before it has had time to fully wake up.
