Ahah, well now, thank you, that makes me feel a lot less stupid. However, I also tried other ways to define the path, as I had seen some references to SMB paths not being too popular with SageTV, but those other methods also seem to be broken. What should we do? I had it working fine when it was first installed, maybe the last SageTV upgrade or SageMC are not linux-friendly?

I will say that the Windows server version works very well using linux as a samba server, it also worked well when I had iSCSI configured via linux as well.

I just downloaded the 6.5.6 beta candidate, but SageTV still can't see the Samba server drives using a windows client. By broken, do you mean that we had SMB paths working OK a while back? I am sure I did not have this problem when I first started using SageTV. |

I updated to 6.5.6.200, and everything is fixed. Now of course, I am too scared to use anything but the default user interface (sorry to SageMC and MeInMaui who makes the nice icons, etc.). Actually, I quite like the default interface now, this product is really starting to mature. Great work folks.

So, use notebook to write a text file with this line of code in it, save it anywhere (I put it in a folder in the root called bat), then rename the file to netlogon.bat, then restart your pc. net use Z: "\\myserver\windowsshare" /userlde mypassword /persistent:yes Let me know if this worked for you. If not, drop SageMC, and see if you can see the drives. Sage auto-detects and lists them now alongside all the windows clients on my home network. |

I think we have our wires crossed My issue is running a Linux server with DVDs on the linux server and the linux server being able to serve them to a PC client using SMB or UNC paths.
The linux server media folder is configured to be something like "/opt/samba/dvd" But when the PC client tries to play that file the linux server sends it the "/opt/samba/dvd" path to the PC which makes no sense to the PC. Sooo the Linux server should be able to "mount" its directory as a samba share (i.e. /opt/samba/dvd => //linuxserver/dvd) and configure the SMB path in the media folder section. This is the part that does not work.
