DiSEqC Settings for DVB-S in UK & lnb files
I've heard back from Sage support and it looks like the channel scans on my nova-hd-s2 could be failing because I haven't created a .lnb file.
It all works fine in 6.3.10 but not with 6.4.anything During the source setup, sage asks you for the DVB-S provider. I select Astra (28.2). It then brings up a box asking for LOF1: Not Set LOF2: Not Set LOF SW: Not Set TOS1: Not Set TOS2: Not Set I've always just carried on without changing anything. I'm guessing I should be putting something in here. I've no idea what though. Has anyone one else got it working, and if so, what settings did you use? and are these the settings that create the lnb file? I'm a little confused ![]() |

Your lnb setting?
Hi,
Did you ever create an lnb file? If you didn't... depending on the bda driver a lnb may of been created for you. Do you have the lnb file from your 6.3.10 install? If yes please reply with the setting and should be able to help. When your satellite was installed you should have received the lnb details... No chance of you having the info on hand? cheers |

6.3.10 didn't create an lnb file, and it worked fine.
After upgrading to 6.4.4, it still works fine, but there's no lnb file. If I do a clean install of 6.4.4, then I have problems. When I did an install of 6.4.2 a few weeks ago, I did manage to get it to create an lnb file at some point. (I found this in a backup folder) The file was called Hauppauge-WinTV-88x-TS-Capture-0.lnb and the contents were as follows. #LNB setup for Hauppauge WinTV 88x TS Capture sat_no:0 sat_name:"Astra (28.2)" In the past I've just installed Sage and not had to worry about any of these settings. I've done some googling and can't find any details on what to set anywhere. I'm not home to change things until Friday, and theres some programs I really want to get recorded over the next 2 days so I daren't touch it as knowing my luck I'll mess something up, but I can play with my test system all weekend as I've moved one of the cards into it. |

try Lof1 = 9750, lof2=10600, lof sw = 11700 tos1 = none tos2 = none if that doesn't work try LOF1: 10600 LOF2: 10600 LOF SW: 10600 tos1:none tos2:none add the line like this to your Hauppauge-WinTV-88x-TS-Capture-0.lnb #LNB setup for Hauppauge WinTV 88x TS Capture sat_no:0 sat_name:"Astra (28.2)" LNB=9750-10600-11700 pos:None opt:None once you add the source - scan and it finds notthing - finsh and close sage completely - edit the Hauppauge-WinTV-88x-TS-Capture-0.lnb file - then edit the sage.properties file - you DVB-S info should look something like.. DVBS/Hauppauge\ WinTV\ 88x\ TS\ Capture<DVB-S>/ASTRA\ (28.2\ )/LOF1=9750 DVBS/Hauppauge\ WinTV\ 88x\ TS\ Capture<DVB-S>/ASTRA\ (28.2\ )/LOF2=10600 DVBS/Hauppauge\ WinTV\ 88x\ TS\ Capture<DVB-S>/ASTRA\ (28.2\ )/LOFSW=11700 DVBS/Hauppauge\ WinTV\ 88x\ TS\ Capture<DVB-S>/ASTRA\ (28.2\ )/TOS1=None DVBS/Hauppauge\ WinTV\ 88x\ TS\ Capture<DVB-S>/ASTRA\ (28.2\ )/TOS2=None DVBS/Hauppauge\ WinTV\ 88x\ TS\ Capture<DVB-S>/Providers=ASTRA (28.2) save the file. start sage - don't remove the source just rescan. Hope it helps Anne

Hi Doc,
I've attached my .lnb file for you to take a look at. I dont know what it does or means as it only appeared with 6.3.2 or 6.3.3 and my current setup doesnt use it. (6.4.4) Note: I had to change it to .txt to get it to upload.

I've been playing around today and tried using some settings that Anne gave me. If I add the source and enter the details LOF1: 9750 LOF2: 10600 LOF SW: 11700 TOS1: Not Set TOS2: Not Set the scan starting screen appeared, and then stopped immediately. It created an lnb file, but the only lines in it were #LNB setup for Hauppauge WinTV 88x TS Capture sat_no:0 sat_name:"Astra (28.2)" I then closed down sage and manually added the line LNB=9750-10600-11700 pos:None opt:None to the lnb file. I then started sage, went into source setup, and it then did the scan ok. The next time I try I'll give your settings a go. I've emailed Qian back with my findings. I've reverted back to my old copy of sage as I've got lots to record over the next few days so no more playing around. |

my .lnb file for astra 19,2° looks like this:
Code:
#LNB setup for TechnoTrend BDA/DVB Capture sat_no:0 sat_name:"Astra (19.2)" LNB=9750-10600-11700 pos:A opt:A the pos:a and opt:a depend on which diseqc position the lnb you need is, try all positions if you are not sure which to use...

Just FYI, I am just learning about Sat config, but this is what I figured out... That box confuses DiSEQc and standard LNB parameters
LOF 1,2 and LOF SW are not DiSEQc settings, they are the local operating frequencies of your LNB and should either be written on the side of the LNB or in the documentation... From my research, 9750,10600,11700 are normal values, but for 'special' LNB's, such as C-band, or circular polarity, other values may be necessary TOS1 and 2 are the parameters for selecting an input on a DiSEQc LNB switch, or a monobloc LNB. They are equivalent to the DiSEQc Position and Option paramaters. If you don't have a switch, none, none should be fine... Note, I got most of this info from the TechnoTrend TT Media center app, which does a better job of sat config and scanning, but is a much worse media app ![]()

in 6.4.3 I raised a bug report on my TT s2-3200 and DiSeqC switching -- apparantly it is not yet supported, but will be soon (TT do not document thier APIs well and are not giving Sage any support, so Sage has to reverse enginner the APIs).
My workaround: setup the 2 lnb's in the TT media center app, and use that each time I want to switch my switch (sucks I know, but it is a workaround).
