Half-Height vs USB Tuner Cards
I currently have a Hauppauge 150 with remote for Sage in a normal desktop that records Comcast analog cable.
I have been given a faster computer that I'd like to use as my new DVR. But it has only half-height PCI card slots and USB2. Unfortunately, my current card won't fit. I was looking at the Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150MCE-LP TV tuner, but it doesn't have a remote, or a place to plug in the IR receiver for the remote that I have now, as best as I can figure out. I guess the other option would be something like the WinTV PVR USB2, but I already have that remote, and it kills me to spend $137 bucks on it, especially since the video quality on the Hauppauge card that I have now is pretty crappy. So I want a TV tuner card for analog cable with a hardware encoder, half-height or USB2, and preferably a way to use the 45 button Hauppauge IR remote that I have now. I'm trying to find the cheapest way to use this computer as a DVR. Any suggestions would be appreciated! |
