7. Added ability to specify the audio or video decoder used for any specific media format in DirectShow. This is done in the properties file under videoframe/codec_audio_decoder_filter or videoframe/codec_video_decoder_filter where 'codec' is replaced by the media format name. These properties will get created as media with a new format is played back.


Lots of nice new capabilities here. I like the per format decoder option!

I wonder if this is what the default output of the HD-PVR is going to be? Will AC3 be re-encoded to AAC?

I don't understand this at all. Are we not allowed to change the AR on DVD playback now? I frequently change the AR on DVD......

BTW -- you don't need to edit the property manually; this is also in the UI:

16. Added option in Detailed Setup -> Customize to control whether newly added channels are automatically enabled.

Only on the DVD menus since it can't display the buttons properly if you change the aspect. You can still change the aspect while the titles are playing.

It's great to see a new beta release with lots of new features. The expected HD-PVR is a major feature, I'm placing my orders for HD STB and HD-PVR soon.

Adding H264 support for YouTube is nice, I didn't even know YouTube has h264 videos. But I was wishing more work was done on the Online Services. It seems half finished. Still looking for auto downloading of RSS videos for later viewing, bookmarks for videos and search results, more results on YouTube and Google Video categories, etc.

LOL, somtimes this is the only way I find out I actually have new channels

Only problem is they're usually HD channels I can't record (yet).

Still nice to have the option. Annoying to have my schedule all screwed up by a bunch of shows Sage can't actually record on a channel I probably don't even get.

For you it's just annoying, for most Dish users it's the kiss of death, as the STB will throw up a message box that requires input before it will change channels again, which means you'll spend three days recording a message box instead of all your favorites. When I had Dish, I had to leave IR turned off to avoid this problem. Finally, since it looked like Sage wasn't going to fix it, and Dish wasn't going to fix it, I fired Dish and went to DirecTV.

Now Sage fixes it. Which is good! Just not so much for me anymore.
