Gurus, need help! Hauppauge 45-button with SMK USB Receiver?

I purchased a Hauppauge PVR150 (non-MCE) a couple of years back, and I believe the IR receiver cable plugging into the back of the card is somehow defective. I've since contacted Hauppauge, but they mistakenly sent me two of the SMK USB IR Receivers that I believe are used in the MCE kit.

Is there anyway to use my existing 45-button remote that came with my non-MCE PVR, with this SMK USB IR Receiver? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I suggest contacting Hauppauge again to get the correct cable. You could ask them if there is a way to use the remote w/the other receiver, but I doubt you can.

Actually, I was hoping I'd be able to take advantage of the SMK USB IR Receiver, since the HTPC case I'm considering using doesn't allow full length expansion slots.

I may consider getting a Logitech Harmony 550; is that compatible with the SMK receiver? In lieu of that, I'd also consider one of the many MCE compatible remotes, if that also works with the SMK receiver.

Still no luck getting the SMK USB IR receiver to get recognized with Girder. I must be doing something fundamentally wrong, but there's next to no documentation on the SMK receiver from Hauppauge.

No, you'll need a MCE Remote or a Harmony emulating a MCE Remote for the receiver to work.

Regards,
Stéphane.
