Please Help - Using Comcast HD Cable box with Sage

Hello,
I'm in the Chicago area and am looking to put together the SageTV software with either the new SageTV HD Extender or Blackmagic Intensity. I currently have a Motorola HD Cable Box provided by Comcast to view my digital HD cable.

My question is, if I setup to record a program, how does SageTV (or the Extender or Blackmagic Intensity) change the channel on my Comcast cable box?
For example, if I set to record a program while I am not at my house, do I have to set the Comcast HD cable box to the channel I want to record before I leave the house? My understanding is there is something that can change the Comcast cable box to the correct channel and start recording. I've searched all over the forum for information on how channels get changed on my Cable Box, and I cannot find anything.

Thanks for any information.

You need an IR blaster to control your cable box. This link has just about everything you need to know.

Actually the best way is via firewire. My Comcast HD box in MA works perfectly. You can also record channels over firewire that you won't get using a Qam tuner. Check out the thread on firewire recording from STB's in this forum. It's long, but all the info is there.
