Dual Cards - Technisat Skystar2
Hi There,
I have just downloaded the trial of SageTV 6.3. I have 2 cards, a Hauggpauge Nova-s, and a Technisat Skystar2, which are both DVB-S cards. I have the Nova-s card working, but no luck with the Skystar2. This is what I did, 1) The nova-s was detected, but was not working. 2) I added the lnb file with the NZ lnb settings. This made the Nova-s work on freeview in New Zealand. 3) The skystar2 was not detected. 4) I installed the skystar2 BDA drivers and it was detected and I installed it. 5) The skystar2 is not working. Basically if I start a recording and it is using the Nova-s and I try to change channels it says that 'no signal was detected' (with the skystar2). I made sure to add the lnb file for the skystar2, but that didn't seem to fix it. I also tried uninstalling the nova-s from sage, and installing the skystar2 only, but that didn't work either. Any ideas appreciated. |

Hmmmm
OK, that is odd. It is working now.
I changed my setup a bit, the DVB-S signal now goes into my set top box and the output from the set top box goes into a splitter which goes into my dual TV card setup. Before it was just going into the splitter, but even then I swapped over the cables yesterday to make sure it was not an LNB power problem. I played around with the channel setup and restarted the computer. Anyway something has brought both cards to life, so that is good. ANOTHER QUESTION: Why does Sagetv split the files up sometimes? I look into the folder and see that my recordings are ofter split over more than 1 mpg file. Is it possible for me to merge them together? The problem I had was that I got sagetv to convert one of my recordings to MPEG4, and the output file is 2 avi files instead of 1. When I got sagetv to play the file back it stopped after the first file, and didn't continue on to the second. Any ideas? |

Sage will split files into smaller chunks if it determines that it lost signal along the way; if you have an "iffy" connection, then you may see several physical files for each show Sage recorded.
Have no clue how to merge them for conversion. Sorry. Stu |

Thanks
Yes, OK, I have been in 'Test' mode, so I have been playing around with the system quite a lot. I will run the system without touching it for a bit and see if the files are still splitting up.
Sorry to change the subject again, but is it possible to move files between the sagetv directories and will sage pick them up? E.g. If I decide that I don't want to use one of my drives any more, and I move the files into a different sagetv folder on a different drive? How does sagetv reference the files? In some kind of database I guess? What? Where? |
