anyone using multiple HD tuner cards?
I am looking at adding more HD tuner cards in my sage server. I currently have a Fusion 5 Lite. Looking for opinions on what cards to add. Looking at the Fusion 5 Lite, Avermedia AverTVHD A180, Vbox Cat's Eye DTA-150, or Vbox Cat's Eye 164e dual tuner. Wanted to see if there have been any problems with any of the cards in multiples. Some other specs for the server...
p4 1.8, 512mb ram, Nvidia DualView card, two PVR150 cards. I will probably drop the PVR cards with adding the extra HD cards. |

There's plenty of us out here running several HD cards. I'm running 4 in my server (in fact, that's my only source): 2x Vbox 151, 1x Vbox 150, 1x Avermedia A180. Everything runs fine and I can in fact record 4 ATSC streams simultaneously, in the rare event that there's that much OTA worth watching (but hey, if it's in HD, there's a good chance I'll watch it).
There have been various reports of some difficulty putting in multiple cards, but it seems to be a driver issue. See here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17898 IMO, the Vbox are the best value and the easiest to install (I've tried the Vbox, Aver, and Fusion 5 gold and lite), but they should all work. cheers, Dave |

awesome, thanks. I am leaning towards the vbox cards. really thinking about the dual tuner, but it is very new.

I have 2xA-180's which are great; I've been waiting for the new vbox pci-e, dual tuner to become available and get that also. It says it is "new" but no one has it for sale!
Let us know if you find it anywhere. Randy

I love the cat's eye cards, but be sure to use the 2.1.705.0 version of the drivers and not 2.1.705.7 or you will NOT be able to use 2 HD cards in the same system. |

I used to have one A180 & it works great for over the air channels. But I unloaded it because of the lack of 8vsb QAM support in the drivers (even though the card supports it) So I could get clear free (legit) digtal channels from my Cable provider. I picked one of the new FushionLite RT cards and I picked another 150 free digital channels
Prehaps in a few more weeks (when I have time) I'll find some way to get it into SAGE. Its just too bad that Sage doesnt support unencrypted QAM from supporting ATSC drivers.

I am only concerned with over the air stuff. I can't keep up with the recordings I already have, I don't need more

I have an A180 and a Fusion5HDTV lite in my system. I can't tell any difference between them.

Just installed the Gold RT. I had to restart Sage Services twice to get it installed. Other than that, it is working fine alongside the 5 Lite.

Will SageTV support the Cat's Eye 164e dual HD tuner?
Does anyone know if SageTV will support the new Cat's Eye 164e card when it get's released? The place that I had ordered my DTA-150 cards from had them on back order for 4 weeks so finally I cancelled my order. Just trying to figure out if I should wait the estimated 3 to 4 weeks for the Cat's Eye 164e card to ship in quantities, or order two of the Cat's Eye DTA-150 cards from a vendor that has them in stock now. It would be nice to save the PCI slots and go with the dual tuner card.
Thanks Kenny |

to follow up on hotwire's request. Has there been any word at all on whether or not (and when) Sage will be supporting the cat's eye 164e card? Thanks. |
