4th tuner of two dual cards will not preview or config

I replaced pvr500 with
AVerTV PURITY-3D MCE 500
one dual card works fine
but add 2nd card and 4th tuner will not preview or setup

Swap cards,
swap order
swap interrupts
enable one at a time
or install drivers one at a time
Doesn't matter

2nd card 2nd tuner will not preview or setup

ERROR(-4,0x8007048f)

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ray

Return the card? Might be bad. I was going to suggest a resource conflict. Is it one IRQ per card or per tuner?

OOPS!
it turns out only max of two tuners at one time will work.
single board dual tuner ok
added 2nd board with dual tuner and 1st tuner works ok
but just found out 2nd tuner on 1st board stopped working
so never three or more tuners
max 2 tuners

winxp home

please remember:
either board works if only one in system at a time in any pci socket
either board works if I disable one or the other in any pci slot
but only two tuners will wok at any one time
1st board 2 tuners but not 2nd board
2nd board 2 tuners but not 1st board
one tuner on both boards work but never more than 2 tuners out of 4
work at any one time.

both:
AverMedia XC-MPEG Dual TV (M1A2)
PCI\VEN_1745&DEV_2020&SUBSYS_F7381461&REV_00\4&3B8BE48B&0&3030

Sell one or setup a network encoder to use the other one. Personally I think a network encoder would be a bad idea just to use the other card.

If you have another computer on the network, you could put the second card in that and set it up as a network encoder. You'd have to buy another SageTV license, but at least you'd get to use your card. Just a thought.

Aloha,
Mike

Edit: Dang, too slow AGAIN!

Yup, a network encoder is basically another SageTV server that is controlled by your primary Sage Server. It requires a licensed copy of SageTV, not SageTVclient, but can allow you to add more tuners to your system that would not fit in your main box.

Appendix G in the Sage Manual goes into detail on this. http://download.sage.tv/users/opus4/..._Manual_v6.zip

If you can return the card or sell it I'd do that before setting up a network encoder. By the time you pay for another server license you could probably sell the card and buy another dual tuner that would work in your existing server and come out spending less money.

Not to mention you'd be adding more complexity to your setup and creating more network traffic by using a network encoder. I believe simple is better, but that's just me.

I guess I'll return the 2nd card and get another dual card like
nVidia DualTV. I just don't trust another pvr500.
Thanks all!!

changed to two dul tuners
AVerMedia Purity 3D MCE 500 ok
Hauppauge PVR-500 (used but tested)
motherboard: ASRock 939Dual-VSTA Socket
cpu: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice
ram: 1gb
got stuttering, pixelation on Hauppauge PVR-500
(just like 2nd of 3 boards I got from Newegg)
SO....................
I changed motherboard/cpu/ram
MOTHER BOARD: gigabyte GA-K8NS PRO
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
ram:1gb

Now both dual tuners work fine.
Now I got some work to do.

I just noticed that Avermedia released some new drivers on 1/15/2007. Anyone know if they corrected the issue with only supporting one card (two tuners) in the system?

I am looking at building a server for the company I work for and the Avermedia card seems to be the only one I can order from Dell or CDW (our preferred vendors).
