Is it possible to convert from client mode to service mode while retaining recording history? I tried this several months back and was unsuccessfull. I made a backup of my Sage folder, deleted the program directory, re-installed Sage in service mode and copied wiz.bin back. This did not work as wiz.bin was overwritten. Is my sequence correct? I'd like to have the ability to kill the client without stopping recording.
Thanks in advance for your replies. --Joel |

You don't need to uninstall/re-install to change from or to service mode. Just configure the service option -- see the Starting SageTV & subsequent sections in chapter 2 of the PDF manual, found in your SageTV dir. That starts on p. 14 for the v6.3 manual.

Although be aware that if running vista with UAC enabled, the service tries to read wiz.bin and sage.properties from a different directory than when running in non-service mode.... (See FAQ)
(I have given up on UAC on my vista install...)
