Problem: Setting up online service audio

I'm customizing the online services screens by modifying the OnlineVideoUIText.properties and OnlineVideoLinks.properties files. I've added some source and UI lines for the "This Week in Tech" podcast and while the art/text and "video list" are retrieved successfully, trying to play a podcast will give the message "Video does not have MPEG4, FLV or AVI file type".

Other video sources that I left intact still play just fine. I've reinstalled both my Sage server and client to make sure that the STVs are both v6.3. I don't think I've made a typo as all of my audio only sources give the same error. But I've pasted an example of my changes here.

OnlineVideoLinks.properties
xNetcastTwit/Categories=xTWiT
xTWiT/URLContext=http://leoville.tv/podcasts/twit.xml

OnlineVideoUIText.properties
Category/xTWiT/ThumbURL=http://thisweekintech.com/sites/all/themes/twit/img/podcasts/podcast_1.jpg
Category/xTWiT/LongName=This Week in Tech
Category/xTWiT/ShortName=TWiT

I'd really appreciate any help anybody can provide.
-Thanks

Solved

Thanks for the suggestion domc, that was the thread that helped me set up my original changes.

The problem turned out to be in the "Source=..." line of the OnlineVideoLinks.properties file. The comment just prior to this line reads, "Note that these values double as the OnlineVideoType code in the STV." It should also clarify that the STV does not take the onlinevideotype code from this file specifically. Looks like all sources added/changed in this line of code must start with "xPodcast" for the STV to recognize them appropriately. If you change "xPodcastNews" to "xNetcastNews" it will break the sources and you'll get the "Video does not have MPEG4, FLV or AVI file type" error. Similarly adding sources that do not start with that specific prefix will cause them not to work (i.e. "xFavorites").

Hope this helps you who're editing your online services, though I expect most are smart enough not to mess with functionality that's working already.

Cheers
-Matt

I've been struggling with this for days... Here is what mine look like and I get no sound...

OnlineVideoLinks.properties
xPodcastFamily/Categories=Runningtowin,Precepts,Turningpoint,Colonial,wisdomfortheheart,
Runningtowin/URLContext=http://www.lightsource.com/ministry/running_to_win/3193631/feed.xml

OnlineVideoUIText.properties
Source/xPodcastrunningtowin/LongName=Running to Win
Source/xPodcastrunningtowin/ShortName=Running To Win
Category/Runningtowin/ThumbURL=http://media.salemwebnetwork.com/oneplace/images/hosts/postage/postage-rtw.jpg
Category/Runningtowin/LongName=Running To Win
Category/Runningtowin/ShortName=Running To Win

What should mine look like?

Thanks for the help,

Gary Ellis

Likely no help here.

Gary-

I think that unless you're getting the "...MPEG4, FLV or AVI file type" error, we've got different issues. If your podcasts are downloading and trying to play then I think your problem is elsewhere.

Here are a couple suggestions however; I'm sure your OnlineVideoLinks.properties file already has it, but verify that the "Sources=..." line near the top has your "xPodcastFamily" value. The default file has it so I'm sure yours does too.
Also, I don't think that the OnlineVideoUIText.properties file needs the "Source/xPodcastrunningtowin" lines, only the "Category/Runningtowin" ones to define its labels. I think the "Source/" lines are for use with values found in the OnlineVideoUIText.properties source line.

If you can get other podcasts going, particularly other podcasts in the xPodcastFamily category, then I think your problem is something else.

I see that that feed is mp4 video, you might try downloading one separately and see if sage will play it via the browse to function. That might tell you if the problem is in their media/feed or in Sage's online services implementation

Good luck.
