When will SageTV have built in Commercial Skip

Sage is hands down the best DVR right now. One thing that does frustrate me is that it doesn't have out of the box commercial skip. When will it be added? I was a beyond TV user before and it was built in WAY back...what's the holdup Sage?:-)

You won't see it 'built-in' for legal reasons. As I understand it, in BTV it isn't true commercial skip - but rather commercial marking. Is that correct, or am I wrong? With Sage YOU can set it up to mark commercials, or automatically skip them - it's up to you (no liability for Sage). As I recall, both ReplayTV and TiVo were sued for 'allowing' commercial skipping.

Just ReplayTV. TiVo like Sage decided to play it safe and avoid making Big Hollywood angry.

It isn't that hard to setup comskip for SageTV, either with Dirmon/ShowAnalyzer or ComskipMonitor/comskip.exe.

This stems from a lawsuit that ReplyTv went through quite a few years ago when they had auto commercial skip built in. They lost the suit against the big entertainment companies.

You will never see automatic commercial skip in any commercial Tivo type boxes (cable companies, Sat TV). You will have to press the 30 second skip button and I not to sure that's going to last.

My main reason for using SageTV is for skipping commercials automatically. Showanalyzer is real easy to set up and the default settings are pretty accurate.

So you pay your $120 a month for cable/sat but you can't choose to NOT watch something
