Commercial skip plugin on MediaMVP?

I recently got my wired MediaMVP up and running and love it. I have a commercial skip plugin on my server which reads .edl files and allows me to easily skip commercials.

Is there a way I can do something similar on the MediaMVP to skip commercials?

Just import the same STVi. (but if the import also runs comskip, you probably don't want to enable that part on the MVP also).

This one is widely used. As Stanger said, just import it via the setup screens on the MVP (just as you would on the server.)

Works great for me.

It's been a long time since I set this up.

But do you need to share the directories that the .edl files are in for the MVP to see them?

I can't remember if I had to do that or not....

No you dont.

Just import the STVi Matt mentioned and you're good to go.

Not if the server can (it better), the MVP behaves as if you're running on the server.

Commercial skip plugin on MediaMVP?

I am having the same issue…

Let me start by saying I’ve been running SageTV for about 2 years. I’m currently using version 6.3.10.166 with Java version 1.6.0_11. I also have one MediaMVP hooked up to the network which works great for me. The MediaMVP is ver. 1.1.38/1.1.38. I also purchase two placeshifter licenses and have one laptop with Placeshifter 6.3 loaded on it. It also works great. My entire family including me love the SageTV system.

Its been running flawlessly straight out of the box without any modifications/imports.

I decided I would like to try commercial detection so I did a lot of research on the forum to where I got confident enough to try to install it. (I’m not advanced when it comes to this kind of stuff. This is why I haven’t attempted anything else.)

Therefore, I downloaded the (STV Import: Comskip Playback for Default STV (v1.5.4 30/August/2008 for SageTV 5/6) posted by JREkiwi, and installed. Then I believe I went to the Advanced tab on the detailed set up page and imported the STVi file to SaveTV. Rebooted computer and installed current ver, of DirMon2. Set up DirMin2 from detailed instruction I found on the forum. It immediately started converting all the movies in the Sage movie file. When all the files were converted I checked on the server and the commercials were marked, life was good.

BOTTOM LINE: I have yet to get my mediaMVP to show the commercial markers. Nor will my laptop using the placeshifter 6.3 show them. I did share the movie folder and map the drive on my laptop like I read on the forum but it still does not show the commercial markers.

Is there a setting I missed ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You must import the commercial skip plugin on your MVP just as you would on your PC.
Detailed Setup-Advanced-Plugin Manager and add it on your MVP.

gplasky,
Thanks for the response. I went to Detailed Setup-Advanced on my SageTV server and there is no option that says Plugin Manager.

For the default it is Detailed Setup-Advanced-Manage STVI plugins. Then add the Comskip STVI. You should be doing this from your MVP. (Not "on your server). Your MVP is a client and you can add any plugin you want strictly to your MVP.

Commercial skip plugin on MediaMVP?

As I state previously I have the comercial skip working fine now. But I do have one more question.

I disabled the auto skip feature so I could ether watch the commercials or skip them manually. When I'm using my computer to watch a recorded show all I have to do is hit the arrow key on the keyboard to skip the commercials, but on my mediaMVP it just fast forwards.

Quetsion: Is there a setting I can make so the the skip keys (II>) on the mediaMVP will skip all the commercials like the computer key board does and go to the next scene ?

On my MVP the right and left cursor keys (the ones you navigate the menus with) work fine for skipping to the commercial points. If you wanted FF/RW to do that instead you could remap the remote so that those buttons are also linked to the left/right cursor movement command. But then you'd lose some functionality so I'd recommend against it.
