Grouping by Favorite?

I know you can group on title, channel name, category...but is there any why to group by Favorite. (Sometimes it isn't so obvious and grouping by favorite would be handy!)

You can limit by favorite in the filters and then group by title.

However, if you have say program XYZ and you have a favorite to record HD and 1 SD. Then you want to list each title seperate (1 HD and 1 SD), that is not possible.

That's great if my favorite IS the title, but if the favorite is an actor it doesn't work.

Ex: I've got Tom Hanks as a favorite.

It keeps recording 'Big Love' which I don't really care for, and everytime I try to figure out why it recorded, I need to look at the detailed info.

It'd be great if I could sort on favorite. So it's whatever the favorite is--the Title, the keyword, the actor--and then under that, the shows that go with the favorite.

Have you tried marking it Watched so it won't record anymore? I know that's not what you asked, but it might solve your problem.

That's a good work around for this example...but I'm really looking for an easy way to just figure out WHY something recorded..which favorite does it match?

Assuming you haven't turned off the popup for this (If you can turn it off - I can't remember) do the following on the recording:

1. Press record button - when the favorite recording is highlighted that you want to find out what favorite was responsible for recording it.
2. Select "Adjust Favorite Options" from the menu
3. Look at the top of the favorite properties screen that shows up - it will list the highest priority favorite that would have recorded the program.

Now you know what favorite recorded that recording with only a few remote presses on an easier to see screen than detailed setup.

Would it be hard to modify the 'grouping' code in the STV to allow grouping by Favorite?

Don't think it would be hard but can't say for sure. I've never tried to group videos by their favorite before.
