Dumb question?
OK, don't shoot me but I honestly haven't seen this covered yet.
I have a Hauppauge 1600... Do you take the coax right from the wall to plug into the 1600? or Do you split the feed coming out from the cable box to use on the 1600? I know for standard you use the line coming out of the box but for HD I just don't know. I do have digital cable service. |

The cable does NOT go into a box it goes right into the 1600 for digital. Now there are 2 connections on there. 1 analog and 1 digital. The digital has 2 flavors (QAM and OTA (over the air)). You want QAM since you said you have digital cable and you need the correct version card. Check the website for the 1 to do QAM. You want to split your cable so that you can get the analog and digital QAM. Digital QAM you will most likely only get channels you get with cable basic service (locals and a few others) but the picture is awesome and you get all the HD locals. Here is a post you'll want for details: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27008 Good luck. |
