Possibly a very dumb question

Hi,

Im about to buy a house in New Jersey, and I noticed that it has the satellite dish for dish network installed.

I wasn't planning on getting dish, but wondered if these, without the use of an STB, can recieve OTA HD ? (Basically do they also act like a normal aerial).

If it does (and assuming Im near an antenna) what is the current favourite PC reciever of OTA - is it the VBOX stuff still? (I know the favourite QAM seems to be the HdHomerun - If I can't get OTA, I'll get Comcast and an HDHR).

Cheers

Mark

I have both Vbox USB tuners and Fusion PCI tuners. Of the two, my preference is for the Vbox as being more trouble-free and easier to work with.

To answer the other question, no a Dish won't pick up OTA broadcasts, you need an antenna for that.

Good point, I'd forgotten that.

Cheers
