Dumb Tv question...

If a program says it has 5.1 Sound I need to use my Cable box right?

it's been sooo long since I had my Logitech Z680's hooked up to digital I kinda forgot.

If you're talking about recording with sagetv it doesn't matter because sage isn't going to record it in 5.1 anyway. Not a Sage limitation, a hardware limitation of analog PVR cards.

Hi,

Unless your sound card will do some sort of fake surround.... I know my receiver has several varieties. I usually use DTS Neo6 for my sage recordings.

Well there is always the X-Mystique 7.1 sound card which has DDLive. Basically same thing as Soundstorm in that it re-encodes the audio in real time to Dolby Digital.

I've got a Abit AN7.. it may be old now but IMHO Soundstorm was the best, I wished They stuck with it.. I hate AC97 codecs

But anyways I will Check into this card

Edit wow $99 thats Pretty Cheap! and better then the Sound Blaster. I might buy this for the main system.
