Vista, Realtek AC'07 and S/PDIF

Hey folks,
So I just upgraded to Vista and I'm not sure it was the right move, but we'll see. Perhaps the most vexing issue is that I can not for the life of me get my S/PDIF output working.

I have an older Foxconn motherboard with built in audio (nForce 4, AC'97) with the latest Realtek driver installed. If I check my playback devices I can see two things: Speakers and Realtek Digital Output. I can only assume that the Realtek Digital Output is my S/PDIF out. . . Vista indicates that it is working properly, but if I set it as default and disable the analog speaker out there is no audio through my receiver. The Realtek SoundManager app doesn't even have a place to select the S/PDIF out. I can only choose from Headphones, 2 Channel, 4 Channel, 6 Channel and 8 Channel.

So my question is this. . . Has anyone managed to get Vista working with their onbaord AC'97 audio over S/PDIF?

Any help/commiseration would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Yes I have, I just had to open up volume control add S/PDIF selection and un mute it. Then I had to make my audio decoder use the that port and its fine.

Yeah, you need to set the audio device in Sage to Realtek Digital, or SPDIF won't work.
