S/PDIF Audio card recommendations
Does anyone have a recommendation for an audio card that supports S/PDIF output via either optical or coax. The sound chip on my motherboard does not support S/PDIF pass-through so I have to add a card to do this.
Any ideas or recommendations for cards that will work with Sage to give me 5.1 sound output to my high-end audio receiver would be helpful. MJS |

I've had good luck with my Chaintech AV710 with S/PDIF pass-through to a Sony STR-DE575 receiver. Quick and easy to install and never had any problems.

I'm happy with my "AOpen Cobra AW870LP8" it supports both Dolby Digital EX, and DTS-EX. All for only 28 bucks at newegg

Pretty much everything supports DD-EX and DTS-ES passthrough. If it supports DD/DTS, it will do EX/ES passthrough.

I do NOT recommend the M-Audio Revolution 5.1

My Revo 7.1 works perfectly with SageTV. However it is overkill for S/PDIF output.
