Client box - remote control??
Been thinking of using an old Compaq box as a client for Sage. Move the motherboard into a nicer looking set-top kinda box - just a plain oe XP system.
A question occured what is generally used for locally "remote controlling" a client box?? I'm using an OFA 8910 (JP-1 programmed) for the server. Microsoft remote/IR receiver seems pretty cheap @$40.00. Anything else?? |

If you've already got a remote, USB-UIRT is a great option, natively supported.
Streamzap is another, but it's got limited buttons. The reciever can be used "generically" but requires Girder for that functionality I believe. |

I have an IR Keyboard/trackball device that has a receiver plugged into ps/2 ports. Adesso ACK-573UB
I purchased a Logitech Harmony remote (670) and programmed all keyboard commands into the remote. This works like a charm for my client computer. No additional hardware required.

The USB-UIRT is cheaper, natively supported by Sage and shouldn't have focus issues or any of the other things that can make keystrokes sketchy.
