Universal Remote to Control MediaMVP unit?

Folks - anyone had any luck getting a Universal Remote to control even the simplest functions (Stop, Play, REW, FF, and such) of the MediaMVP units? I've recently purchased a "ONe For All" Brand Universal Remote (Model # URC-6131), and the things has TONS of codes to choose from. Even though no Hauppauge specific codes, I though maybe one of the VCR or DVR/PVR Related codes it has for other manufactures might work - even if just a little. I guess it would have been smarter for me to buy a "learning" remote - but I didn't think of the MVP unit at the time..... Thanks!!

There is a thread here, that discusses getting other remotes to work with the hauppauge receiver. Since the MVP uses the same remote, it might be possible to do the same. I'm going to guess you need to find a remote preset (such as the mentioned Phillips TV) that the MVP recognizes. Then in the SageTV Commands menu, learn each of the remote buttons to the appropriate function. Of course I've never done this and I am probably totally off base here, so please take this with the appropriately sized (~137 pound) grain of salt.

Aloha,
Mike

Yes, the JP1 links in that post or the Philips codes would be things to look into. Also try contacting OFA... I may be wrong, but I thought they had some Hauppauge device codes they can give over the phone or something.

I bought 2 URC remotes....

URC 9910 and URC 8820 both are learning remotes and JP1 programmable.

The 9910 was about $35 and the 8820 was about $20 on Amazon.com

The way to use these for Hauppage/MVP is through the learning function. Just use the current 45 button hauppauge remote to "teach" the new remote. I didn't even try to find an overall "code"

The 8820 is probably all you need. But, the 9910 emits both an IR and RF signal at the same time, thus opening up other posibilities such as changing channels and input sources from another room...Comes in handy when you want to use a cable box in another room that inputs through S-video to a PVR 150 card.

Hope it helps,

Gary

In case you want to splash around while watching sage...
Then this one works just fine too.

Dolphin Universal Remote

It controls the MVP from the tub while watching this:

Seura mirror TV

I will probably post this whole setup in another thread once I have some spare time.
