Watch Jericho pilot tonight!

It's on at 9 ET / 8 CT on CBS. It's really good!

In case you haven't heard about the "NUTS" viewer campaign to save Jericho, it was the first show since Cagney and Lacy, 24 years ago, to be brought back after cancellation.

Please watch the show! Especially if you have a Nielsen box!

Thank you.

I don't understand?
Is this the Jericho Pilot that aired last season or is it the Pilot to start the series up again. IE: Is it a first air or repeat?

No, it's a repeat. CBS decided to repeat the episodes during summer to re-introduce the show. It will be back with new episodes in midseason. Tonight is the first one. Next week they will show the episode that recaps the first 11 episodes, followed by the last 11 episodes of the show from this season each Friday during summer. You can watch them all online right now.

This first one is really good. It's really eerie seeing that little kid standing on the roof watching the mushroom cloud explode in the distance.

This is awesome. I still have them archived and was about to remove the favorite and put the videos on a DVD to get them off my system. I
t's great to see at least one of the Big-3 networks say "My Bad, We're idiots for taking off great shows to give you junk instead."

I just used Placeshifter to schedule a favorite for Jericho from work.

I'm such a geek.

But you must know that greatness has nothing to do with it. They're not in the business of airing great shows; they're in the business of selling advertisements. No matter how good a show is in terms of quality, they'd be idiots to leave it on if nobody's watching. If junk draws a big audience (and apparently it does), then that's what they're going to air.

That said, I found Jericho somewhat disappointing in terms of quality. Production values are generally good, but the writing isn't always up to the same standard. For instance in the climactic battle with New Bern, wouldn't it be smart to put snipers up on the hill before the bad guys get there?

And while I like the Hawkins character played by Lennie James, it's just plain annoying that the writers keep trying to make us guess whether he's a good guy or a bad guy. Any suspense created that way rings false, since the character certainly knows which side he's on. Contrast that with, say, Alias, in which we know from the getgo that Sydney's a good guy, we're just not sure (and neither is she) about the people she works for. The suspense there is genuine because it arises from the actual plot situation, and not just from the writers playing head games with us.

No offense to those of you who love Jericho, but for me there are other series (like Invasion) that I would rather see rescued.

I liked Invasion as well and thought it ended prematurely, along with Surface, Commander in Chief, Justice, Day Break, Kidnapped, vanished and the show I'll miss the most "Rome".

I can understand ratings need to be there, but for some of these shows they had long breaks inbetween episodes or the network did not commit enough marketing to it, Or might have over-marketed them.

Some of these shows needed some time to mature and go in a certain direction and simply did not get the chance. The networks have to know that they are pissing people off by cancelling SO MANY shows after 1-2 seasons and THAT IS WHY ratings are bad for new shows now.

Now I record most new shows and archive them for 1-2 seasons until I KNOW that the networks won't cancel them right away before I start watching so I don't waste time investing in them.

Day Break actually finished out its season online after the show stopped airing. All 12 episodes, including the series finale in which everything is wrapped up, are available at abc.com.

Jericho is a great show. Hopefully CBS learns from the mistake it made by having such a long hiatus in the middle of the season. They should see how badly such a hiatus hurt LOST, which is a much more popular show. Jericho, while being a great show IMO, should never have had been divided into two "mini-seasons" like they did with Heroes and LOST - its was just too new of a show to hope to sustain viewers/advertisers during that break. CBS [almost] killed the show that way, but I'm very glad they saw the light, and are bringing it back!

The way I interpret CBS statements is that they decided to order a final season (and a short one at that) to wrap up the storyline not that the show is really and truly back from the dead.

That was the way I took it also... 6 more episodes to close up the story. I do bet that if the 6 episodes receive good enough ratings there will be another grouping ordered... I do question the longevity of the show though.
