Do I need a tuner?

I am currently using a TV tuner/MPEG encoder to capture from S-Video. However, I have no use for the actual tv tuners. Is there an MPEG capture card that would work with SageTV, perhaps with component input as well?

Tuners are only needed if you need to capture analog over the air TV or analog cable channels. If you don't then they are unused.

I am not aware of any component input cards with a hardware encoder.
There is one, the sweetspot, it is a software encoder though.

I have a Core 2 Duo at 3.0GHz, so I'm not too worried about a lack of hardware encoding.
Would this card work with SageTV? Where would I find it?

There aren't any cards with HW encoders that lack tuners.

Well Plextor makes a couple but they're quite expensive and I think the quality is nothing to write home about.

If it's not a HW encoder, don't even bother with it, they just don't work well for PVR use.

Oh, and on component, there aren't any Sage supports. The PMS PDI Deluxe doesn't do HD either.
