Request: Make Deleting Files easier

Hello,

I don't use the Smart Recording feature. I have enough shows to watch as it is. It would be nice if I wasn't asked why I am deleting a file. Is there a way to shut that off and just delete it?

When a recording is highlighted, use the Delete command instead of selecting the recording & you'll get a simple yes/no confirmation dialog. You'll have to do 2 more button presses: up, OK.

Or, when you get the full delete confirmation dialog that shows up if you choose delete from the recording options dialog, use these 2 button presses: down, OK. Down will wrap from the bottom item (don't delete) back to the top item (delete it). Or, Channel Up should do a page up to get to the top button quickly too.

I re-assigned my "red" button (lower left on the Hauppauge remote) to be a delete function. Now, deleting is a simple one-button press, and a "Yes" confirmation press. Simple and easy.

And it works for multiple files as well. While viewing Recordings, highlight a top-level group, and press the delete button. It brings up an ominous warning, and then lets you delete the contents and the group.

SageMC note: With SageMC, the behavior is a bit different simply because SageTV offers Delete options where appropriate, so I find myselfe rarely using the delete button assignment.

As for folders in the imported video section, maybe you need to re-scan the media?

You can delete groups of recordings, but for whatever reason, group deletion was not added for imported video folders -- perhaps the decision was based on the idea that grouped recordings, by definition, are known to be in that particular group & that SageTV created those files. For imported videos, there is a safety aspect of not deleting the entire contents of a folder. I doubt deleting the folder itself would be an option because then you have to make sure there are no other types of files or subfolders in the folder to be deleted. The ability to delete imported videos isn't even turned on by default.

If you think you really need to be able to delete groups of imported videos, you could submit it to SageTV as a feature request.

I uised to be able to select a show, which would bring up a list of all the recordings of that show. then I could choose 'delete all recordings'

this choice no longer comes up for some reason. I have to delete one show at a time. What the hell is going on?

You disabled the advanced recording options, which disables the folder options popup
