Forgetting to change channel

I am using Sage with a USB-UIRT controlling two cable tuners (serial not available). Sometimes Sage "forgets" to change the channel when recording a show. The USB-UIRT LED does not light up and the cable box does not get the signal. This is not reproducible when watching Live TV. I do have the "always tune channel" setting turned on. This is really hurting the WAF. Any ideas?

I don't have a solution for you but I am curious about your problem because I just ordered a USB-UIRT, a pair of IR Emitters, and FIOS TV service...

How often does this problem occur?

I would say channel changes for me with a 3-zoned USB-UIRT are 95+% reliable. The other 5% I could chalk up to the STB because I've seen the same problem when I use the STB remote to change channels on my HD-DVR from the cable company. YMMV.

I have FIOS w/ 2 STBs ... a USBUIRT and 1 emitter.
95% accurate is about right. I think it might tighten up
if I buy the other emitter and stop relying on the blaster.

I'll share the IRT files for a Motorola 2500 and a 6200 if anyone wants them.

I'd love to have the files for the QIP2500 to see how they compare to the others that I've found.

One quick question, since you've already got the service... When you change channels, is there any lingering menu or channel number on the screen? I find that horribly annoying. If it is there, is there any way to clear it ASAP, perhaps by sending an extra [Enter] after the channel number?

I admit ... the channel change is veerrrryyy slow. If anyone has a suggestion on how to speed it up .. I would be grateful.

Here's the IR for the 2500 -- remember to take the .txt off the end.
Cheers!

Thanks for that, I'll try that one out, as well as the others I've found for various QIP 2xxx models as soon as my service is installed next week.

I had my FIOS TV installed today and I've had a chance to play around with the .ir file a bit. If you change the top two lines from...

Code:
QIP25 37616 411 3 600 2000
RepeatCount 10
... to...

Code:
QIP25 37616 411 3 100 2000
RepeatCount 5
... then it will change much faster. I was unable to get it to work reliably with "RepeatCount" set to "3" so I backed it off to "5", just to be safe. You may be able to get it a bit faster still if it's set to "4".

If you have problems with channels that have duplicate numbers in a row (ex. "110", "122", etc.) then start raising the "100" in the first line. if you have to go much higher though then there may be something wrong with your blaster or your receiver.

I actually got it even faster. I had to mask off the area around the IR emitter with black electrical tape though (looks stock unless you're within a foot or so).

With no outside light coming in, I was able to get the following working:

Code:
QIP25 37616 411 3 200 2000
RepeatCount 1
The end result is that channel changes take about 1 second.
