How to upgrade?

I currently have version 2.2.8 and would like to upgrade to the current version of sage since I am revamping the server. I am wondering, how does the upgrade work? Do I have to install 2.2.8 first then install Sage V6? I would rather have a clean installation, is that possible? Thanks in advance.

When installing on a new system, there is no need to install the old version first. Version 6 will require an upgrade license from v2, however. When registering the license, you will end up entering the old v2 license & then entering the v6 upgrade key.

It is possible to use your old wiz.bin to keep your viewing history. You may need to make sure SageTV can see the drive letters used for the old recording dirs -- there is a FAQ on the subject of moving to a new PC, moving recordings, etc., but it is a big long and convoluted by now. If you decide to try that aspect of the move & have problems understanding that part, just post another question.
