Officially switching from MCE

Well, I've been using the SageTV trial for a few days now and I've really grown to love it (especially with the SageMC plugin).
I ordered an MVP for my living room, hooked everything up and it worked perfectly.
The Placeshifter client works perfect on my Mac (primary machine).

Sage does everything I wanted MCE to do, plus more.. so I'm going to purchase my license today and retire my MCE drive.

Thanks Sage, love the product!

I can't really say I was "unhappy" with MCE, Sage just has some additional features I was looking for.

Some of the biggest things for me:
  1. A Mac client (well Placeshifter, not client)
  2. Ability to run a client / Placeshifter on whatever OS you use, Windows, Linux or Mac
  3. Streaming DVDs to an extender without having to encode and with menus (big on the WAF)
  4. Much more efficient on-the-fly transcoding
  5. Support for multiple file formats
  6. Extenders are small (WAF +), cheap (WAF +++) and still available
  7. Frequent updates

Even though I don't use Linux anymore, I also REALLY like the fact that they have a server for Linux... I get very tired of companies that make Windows only software.

I'm by no means bashing Windows (Must... resist...) or MCE (2005 version, never used the Vista media center), I really do like it (MCE that is).. just like the flexibility of Sage better.
