Problem getting the MCE Remote Green Button to work

Hi all,

I'm running Windows XP MCE 2005 w/sp2. It's a fresh install as of today. I have the MCE 2005 remote which I've been using for some time now, although the version of SageTV I was running prior to this reinstall was SageTV4 and was a version predating when they had full MCE remote support in it.

I can't get the green button to do anything in Sage. If I enable ehtray.exe and hit it, it takes me into MCE, so I'm sure that Windows is getting a signal from it.

I've set my remote type to MCE Remote in the configuration on SageTV. The special buttons like "Guide" "Recorded Shows" and "Live TV" all work (they didn't work in the previous version of SageTV I was running), I just get nothing when I hit the Green Button.

A little info on how I did my reinstall and kept all my recorded shows, favorites, settings etc. After getting MCE up and running and my 2 pvr250's working. I took the entire old c:\program\files\SageTV folder and all of it sub directories from the old install, and copied them into the new c:\program files. So I had all of the old files that sage was running on from that dir. Then I just installed version 5.0.2 on top of it. Everything else seems to be working perfectly. I didn't even have to set my sources up again.

I've disabled the two MediaCenter services and removed ehtray.exe from the run tab in my registry.

Any ideas what else I may need to have stopped or started? I'm stumped.

Thanks,
Tim

The Green Button WON'T do anything in Sage. It's not supported. Or any other app other than MCE unless you use Girder or Hip. And although the other buttons now work (Guide, etc.) they can't be remapped to anything either.

Well, I'm just going by what I'm reading in these threads.
Here
and
Here

Two users in those threads report that it takes you to the Main Menu in Sage. Is that not correct?

Not true, the green button does in fact work. It takes you back to the main menu in Sage. There are certain buttons that can't be remapped, but a few of the other ones can be.

I have no idea why it's not working for you though.

It doesn't work unless you try it.

To be honest I hadn't tried it. The buttons that can't be remapped are the ones most people would want to remap like Green Button, Recorded TV, Guide, Live TV, More info, Back and on the previious MCE remote the My TV, My Music, My Pictures and My Videos. Any button that also has a keyboard equvilant can be mapped. All of this info is available on MSDN.

OK, so any ideas why mine won't work? As i said earlier, if i enable ehtray.exe and hit the green button it will cause MCE to invoke. So I know windows is seeing the keypress.

Could it be something residual from my old Sage installation?

Personally I don't see why someone would want to remap any of those. They all go to those things in Sage. The only buttons I wish I could remap are the skip buttons to the custom 4 and 5 for use with comskip.

SageTV3.xml is what it's set to in the advanced properties.

The config shows the MCE Remote as an option for the remote type, so I'm assuming it's the right xml file since the previous version of SageTV I had didn't support the MCE Remote directly.
