You're using an ancient version of Java that doesn't know about the DST schedule change. Update to one of the recommended versions mentioned earlier in this thread.

I already tried everything up to and including Java 1.6u2 (not 1.6u3) this past spring and had problems. It ain't broke, don't fix it.

But it is broke, and it sounds like you didn't fix it . There is a bug in Java 1.4 dealing with the changes in DST. When you updated Java, did you uninstall the older version (or at least disable it in the Java control panel) while testing? Typically, Java applications will use the most recent version of Java available, but there's no guarantee.

I've tried everything I can think of to change the time on my guide back an hour. What am I missing? I've tried using the Java tzupdater but that doesn't seem to help.

Suggestions? I'm using Java 1.6u3 which I've freshly reinstalled after uninstalling all previous versions.

For now, I've just turned the clock on my system back an hour which seems to be working. Is this my only option?

Yep, I'm in the exact same boat. Weird thing is that I have 3 separate sage clients set up and this is only happening on one of them.

The time on my version of Sage (6.2) decided to spring forward one hour. I tried reinstalling both SageTV and Java, but the time still shows one hour ahead. I even tried reinstalling an earlier version of SageTV. Same problem.

Yikes! I have the same issue and luckily my wife noticed it before one of her shows wasn't recorded. I recently did a fresh install of XP MCE and the newest Java version from a few days ago (v6) and the time in Sage is an hour ahead (the Windows system time is correct)?? I just installed Sage client on a PC and the time in Sage is 4 hours ahead?

SageTV time screwed up

Today all of a sudden Sage 5.5 is dragging my system time one hour back. I unsynced it and now the system time is correct, but Sage is still one hour behind.

I did the same on my Client and both system and Sage Client are now correct.

I had downloaded http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst, but both systems said they already had the proper software.

So what can I do about the problem with the Sage Server? I hate to go to version 6..., because there seem to be problems for me.

Thanks,

Try reading the SageTV posts from today explaining the issue and the solution:

Daylight Savings Time Change

Dealing with Jave Runtime Environment

EDIT: Please read ALL THE POSTS, starting with this linked post and the page(s)/posts in that thread that follow.
You can also see my post, below, for more information on the Java Time-Change errata.

EDIT #2: There were TWO THREADS talking about the same issue at the time of this post. BOTH of these threads have been MERGED into this Daylight Savings Time Change thread, so the following posts on this day MAY LACK CONTINUITY. Sorry about that.

I downloaded tzudater and double clicked on tzupdater.jar, but don't know if that did anything. My time is still screwed up. Should I have done anything else?

Thanks,

Thanks for your reply. I tried the tzupdater, but it did not solve the problem.

You should see it in Add/Remove programs. It may be listed as JDK, JRE or Sun Java.

If I need to upgrade, how do I go about it?

Thanks a lot for all the help.

Sorry, I meant for you to read the WHOLE THREAD from that post onward, not just the single post.

An incorrect time-change (time discrepancy) issue could be OS related, Plug-in related (Jave Runtime), or even off-site server synchronization (their issue) related. The best practice is to update everything on your end. And, no sorry, I don't know what you should do about your coffee-maker/toaster clock.

Any versions of Java Run Time released prior to last year may have this issue. Sun's Explanation here.

Lazy people can CHECK THEIR JAVA VERSION HERE via their web browser.

If you're running XP, you should have a Control Panel interface for JAVA that will tell what Version(s) you have loaded (Take a look in the ABOUT button).
There's also a section under the 'JAVA tab' called 'Java Application Runtime Setting' that, hitting the VIEW button, will tell you what versions you have ENABLED.

For those who LIKE running the older versions, SUN probably has a single incident update that corrects for the new DST time-change rules but leaves everything else intact.

In the list, look for 'Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE)' and find your version

Don't want to sound stupid here - perhaps you've already checked this.
On your system clock settings under 'Time Zone' is the 'Automatically Adjust Clock for Daylight Savings changes' checked?
