Any 'overlaying'/screen clearing problems are due to a missing background.jpg file in the same directory as the SageMC STV...
(alternatively check value of property "ui/background_image")

The RSS reader is a standalone (pair of) menus, and only depends on a few themes (AlbumTheme) from the stock STV, which also exist (IIRC) in SageMC.

If imported, it will probably switch aspect ratios automatically based on rules defined using the standard STV with this import, but it may be difficult (or impossible) to configure directly from SageMC...

You might be able to add the 'Auto Aspect Ratio Settings - nielm' internal screen (created by this import) as a plugin which should allow some configuration... (as long as a background image is present, as for the RSS news reader)

Good luck!

OT for this thread but....

I'd like to see this, but my requirement is a little more sophisticated. I use IR so I'd like to see IR not being based on viewing selections made from any of my clients that are in 'guest' mode. I put this in the suggestions thread probably 18 months ago and never heard any more about it so I guess it's not that important to most people. Unfortunately I suspect that IR-enable/disable at per-client level is a core functional change so I'm not holding my breath.

Andy.

Has to be asked!!
Are you going to include the 'MediaPlayer Plugin: Winamp (deria)' in a future release?
Seems like we could finally be rid of the nasty visualization!!

He did leave instructions on how to use it now with SageMC .

I will take a look at it. I need to integrate it as an option so the short answer is if I like how it works, then yes .

Now theres a thought! CD playing.

I have just given the plugin a VERY quick look at. To be honest, it seemed pretty flakey, but I'm sure it could be got working by somebody that knew what they were doing!

Hope for the future though!

I'm reasonably sure I know what I'm doing. The nature of beta-software is that it will have issues. If you're not comfortable using beta-software, you should feel free not to do so. If you do use it and experience problems, feel free to report them (in the appropriate thread, which is not this one). Also, you should ensure that you are using the latest version (for example, the problem of gaps between tracks in the playlist which people were experiencing is fixed in 1.1). Since I'm not sure what problems you experienced, I can't do much to address your issues but I'll certainly attempt to do so if you post your issues (again, in the correct thread).

Why don't you create one that does what you want then???? Talk like this is not very helpful when people are creating imports for everyone without getting paid.

Wo, wo, wo!! hold on people.

deria, when I said "I'm sure it could be got working by somebody that knew what they were doing!", I was referring to myself. I'm sorry if you misunderstood / I didn't make that clear enough.
I'm not saying that the plugin is naff - to the contrary, it will be brilliant if it can be incorporated seamlessly into SageMC (my STV of choice).

I apologize now if I put anyones noses out of joint! I was just expressing my opinion based on a few minutes playing with it with SageMC. As I said someone better qualified than I could no doubt get it working properly. I however am having a few problems with it.

New Dev Build

Full integration with Deria's WinAmp plugin. NOTE: Since this is a dev build update you still need to download and extract Deria's plugin as per his instructions. Just DO NOT import the STVI or do any of the Studio modifications.

To get the Winamp visualizations to be used set mlbdude/use_winamp_plugin=true.

Check out Deria's thread here for information:

http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=14403

FYI, this works great with My Music Files so you can browse and organize your music library even if Sage will not import its tags.

NOTE: I have a huge collection of Napster DRM's wma's that this seems to not work well with. I blame DRM. It works fine for the rest of my collection.

New Dev Build

Enhanced the My Music Files view. Now supports folder.jpg if you have them.

Use mlbdude/my_music_file_rows=6 to customize how many rows are shown when browsing folders.

Interresting side effect. You can place images in folders that contain folders. An example usage would be if you have your music grouped by Genre.

Thanks

I just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone that has put time in on this. I love the flexibility of Sage, and the SageMC interface means my family can understand it too!
The last update seems to have solved the niggles I had. I had tried to figure what I was missing to make the movie listings show for a while!
I have had issues with SageMC freezing with video shown in the menu upon a channel change on occasions. I have been running with the option turned off, but I have been unable to reproduce the freeze with it enabled since updating to version 5 10.
Apart from these items SageMC has performed very well, a credit to it's creators.
Thanks again.

Hi mlbdude,

I just started playing around with the "My Music Files" section, and I noticed two things:

1) It shows file extensions in the list. Is there any way to make it show everything but the extension so that it looks less like your file-system and more like a music module?

2) It shows non-music files (like .jpg, .bmp) in the list. Any way to restrict it to the same list as SageTV (the seeker/music_library_import_filename_extensions property)?

3) Any way to make it show a generic picture if it can't find one in the folder?

#1 Yes that is easy.

#2 Yes, but not as easy. Tried quickly yesterday.

#3 Yes.

I have a question on something that has changed with the last build of Sage MC (I think)--the main menu now seems to 'scroll' the menu choices base on you doing an up/down. Is there a switch to make it static, not scroll the list names? I did not see anything obvious in the properties file.

thanks-

This became the default menu with the last full release of SageMC.

Check out the SageMC Wiki Main Menu section for how to configure this.

New Dev Build

Updated My Music Files.

Only show music files. Hide file extensions. Changed look a bit.

Added new full screen menu for those that don't like the Sage visualization and run FSE and just need something to not burn in their CRT when playing music. It shows the current album and track info too.

Make sure mlbdude/use_winamp_plugin=false and mlbdude/use_alternate_music_visualize=true.

Let me know if the new look for it is better or worse.

Thanks for all the updates...

With the latest update I have noticed a new problem that was not there before.

When video is in the small little window an the botton left, clicking on that window does not restore it to full screen like it did before. Hopefully it is just something simple or it is me, but when reverting to the last final release the problem went away.

Seems odd that this would pop up when you have been making improvements to the music module...

BTW, did you give any though to my My Movies sugestions from last week?

Thanks for all the work, IMO this stv is the most polished and simple to use for even the nanny!

Thanks Mike
