SageTV 2.2.5 RC

SageTV 2.2.5 Release Candidate is now available.

Here's the release notes:
SageTV 2.2.5 Release Candidate 2/2/05
Release Notes

Core Modifications
1. Fixed use of first run/rerun status for EPG plugin data
2. Changed default zoom percentages to 100%
3. Fixed bug when using 2D rendering where the UI would hang for awhile and then all of a sudden recover and execute all the events that were queued up while it was hung. This was due to a timing calc that got affected by clock resync.
4. Debug logs now rollover at 10MB (configurable in props file)
5. Added the apostrophe character to the list of required glyphs for 3D font mapping
6. The local hostname can now be specified in the properties file.
7. Fixed bug where a don't like was scheduled for a Favorite
8. Fixed issue with CBR MP3s stopping too early.
9. Fixed bug where redundant watch requests could clear the current watch request
10. Fixed Airing/MediaFile deadlock issue

You can download the betas at http://www.sagetv.com/beta.html

Please submit any bug reports to http://www.sagetv.com/bugs.html

Thanks for your help!

Talking Stuttering

Will this fix the stuttering problem some of us are having when playing back video?

I'll second this as a #1 priority! Viewing the recorded content stutter-free sounds pretty important to me.

Does this version fix/address the issue of "missing 5 minutes" from the first of a recording (only occurs in the "lower quality modes" -ie. SVCD)?
Thanks,
Bill C.

find this

seeker/fast_mux_switch=true inyour sage.properties

change it to FALSE and the 5 minute thing should be gone. (3 programs and counting since the change no missing 5 minutes :-)

also PLEASE update the software to default to NOT I repeat DEFAUTL TO NOW syncing the time automatically

I spend days sometimes WEEKS tweeking my clock to make sure it gets the programs properly just to have sage whack it.

disabling it is NOT a viable option since its ALREADY too late by that time. it has already updated the time (at least it did for me)

at least have it pop the first time and ask if I want time sync so some can say NO :-)

is there a way I can EDIT this in one of the properties files before I open sage for the first time to prevent it from goofing with my clock ?

for some reason setting time sync ie syncing my clock with the nntp servers always results in the critical beginning of $40 a day being cut off :-) grrrrr :-)

Also PLEASE sage programmers this favor

GIVE US file name controls !!! add spaces to the name or at least underscore and let us add the date and time (example 0203_0300) to the end of the file name I really need this part !!

Especially since the way sage messes with the files I can not even use data modified ordering since when it starts a NEW program it THEN save or modifies the old program so that they swap positions in the order list Grrr (I view the files directly I DO NOT watch the files from within sage hence why I need the date as PART of the file name itself !! Pretty Please !

it will have NO impact on full sage users since they never see the files but it will have a dramatic impact on users like me who interact directly with the files !!

here is an example tonight I recorded without a trace and I get this

WithoutaTraceVolcano-20773-0.mpg

What I want is this

Without a Trace - Volcano 0203-2200.mpg

I would prefer spaces but this might be an issue so this would work

Without_a_Trace-Volcano-0203-2200.mpg

0203 is Feburary 3rd 2200 is the start time or 10pm

This is how hauppauge saves them so I would think its doable

I do like that you add the episode name :-)

g808,
Interesting thing is while when I first started using 2.2.4, I had the stuttering video, it is now gone (still running 2.2.4). At first I pinned it down to runnning near the limit of physical memory so the page swapping activity contributed to the stutters. I even experimented with loading the system and can cause it at will.
After cleaning it up a bit, running SageTC in "non-service" mode and rebooting every 2-3 days to recover memory from leaks, it running as smooth as 2.0.20.

FYI its confirmed I am home now so I was able to actually PLAY the files instead of just look at them and all 10 consecutive programs recorded full length with no issues :-)

I don't know if this is related to the new beta or not, but this is the first time that it's happened since I did a complete reinstall two weeks ago. Watching a show and hit pause to listen for the kids. Hit play and nothing happened - the show was frozen. Waited 10 seconds, hit HOME and nothing happened. Hit the Windows key and the start menu came up. Switched back to Sage and waited 20-30 seconds. It finally went back to the main menu. Tried going back to the show, still frozen - would not play. Went to the main menu and stopped playback. Went back to the show and it finally worked. Finished watching the show and then started another show that had been recording while watching the first show. About 20 minutes into the new show, it just skips about 40 seconds. I skip back and it does it again. Sure enough the MPG file is split into two files. The creation date on the second file looks to be the exact time that Sage hung up while watching the first show.

I'll submit a bug report...

Angry SageTV 2.2.5 Release Candidate is now available.

Each release I eagerly check to see if my problem has been fixed, but it never is.

I reported back in Oct/Nov 2004 that the JukeBox has problems. SageTV acknowledged the problems exist and will be fixed. When is going to be my turn?

Briefly, the JukeBox does not display the titles under "Music by Song Titles", only the numbered lines, for mpeg3 without tags and wav files. The titles do show up once I move them into a play list, but it is pretty difficult to move something into a playlist if you cannot read its title. Also, random playback does not work.

Edit: Added line below.

I am so afraid the next major release will come out soon without my problem being fixed.

This is still happening in 3d mode. Just had it happen a few minutes ago.

Also, are there any issues in running Sage Recorder as a network encoder with a 2.2.x server? My machine with recorder on it seems to crash the program every once in a while, I thought it might be the PC that it was on, but I've tested the memory and it seems to be fine.

Does 2.2.5 mean STUDIO is updated too

From a message from cayars (Ultimate STV) I realized that when he writes the xml file for show data (for compression and Commercial detect), he writes the data to disk as sage studio gives it to him.

This data is not written ok if you use a lang like hebrew, it is gibberish while we enter it correctly using ISO-8859-8 with xmltv plugin.

I eagerly await the day that sage fixes this so I can use compression like others.

will this happen soon?

Please answer since I see that 2.2.5 is RC already.
