Video directories not being saved

I was wondering if I was doing something wrong. I just installed a couple of new drives, and I added a \tv directory to each. I am able to add these directories to sage for recording. While it is running, Sage uses these directories, but if I restart Sage, the directories are no longer listed. I am running sage as a service, and have it set to launch Sage full screen when the machine boots up. I have tried restarting the machine while sage is sleeping (in the tray); I have tried exiting sage first (right click on the sage icon in the tray); I have tried rebooting while sage is running. The new directories just don't stick.

Am I doing something wrong? Or should I report this as a bug/contact support?

The funny thing is that the directory it is using is not the default, but one I entered (d:\tv), and I do not remember having to do anything funny to save it.

After entering all the dir info, you click on "Add Directory" to make sure it is saved, SageTV lists it as one of the video dirs after that, but it isn't listed/used after restarting SageTV/rebooting? Or is that not the entire sequence of events?

Since you are using the service, how are the dirs being entered? Standard "e:\tv" style, or network UNC style?

Will it work if you do not have the UI configured to auto-start at boot time?

.. and check the file permissions on the *.properties files and wiz.* files in the SageTV directory to check that the user running the service can write to them...

Disabling the autostart worked

Anyway, yes, all of the files are writeable. And, Opus, I am doing exactly the order that you have listed using straight local file paths, not UNC shares.

In the end, just disabling the autostart and exiting sage worked. Then I opened, the client manually, and the directories were there. Now I have re-enabled auto start and have my settings. Whacky. Thanks for the help.

Now I just have to remember that if I change settings, that I should not have autostart enabled

No, that means it isn't working as it should. If this is happening while using the latest beta, it should be reported as a bug, in my opinion. (I believe a similar bug was reported from this thread. It doesn't read the same, but I think it is the same cause.)

Not using the beta

This happened with the released version of 2.1. Should I still report it as a bug? Or is this a known issue? Honestly, when I wrote this post, I was wondering if I was doing something wrong.

Well, my opinon would be to file a bug report only when they still occur in the most recent version, since you never know if it has been fixed already. For previous versions, I would contact tech support. Because of the link I posted above (and perhaps other comments I've seen), I think it is safe to say that this problem either still exists or was not completely fixed.
