Custom STV Settings Lost on Reboot
I'm currently using 2.2.2 Beta, whenever I reboot the PC, the custom STV I'm using (Cayars15) gets reset to original2.stv. The rest of my settings seem to be saved: Channels, recorded shows, output to PVR-350, show folders, etc.
I'm sorry I don't have too much other info to tell you, but does anyone have any guesses on how to prevent/fix this? Thanx |

you need to exit sageTV first if you want it to save the settings then reboot

nah, not so strange. I have had this happen also. Stop sagetv and manually put it into the sage.properties file. Do a search on original2.stv and change it to the stv you are using. Save it and restart sagetv. Should work everytime now.

I've been having trouble with my setup losing its settings as well. I'm not using the beta yet, but sometimes when I reboot, and Sage loads to tray at startup, all of my settings are lost. But the solution so far for me has been to just close the Sage UI, and start it back up again. The settings reappear. Not sure if this is the same problem though.

Is the service being used in these cases? If so, it almost sounds like the UI is using the sage.properties file instead of sageclient.properties when it first starts loading immediately after booting. To test this theory, change the stv listed in the sage.properties file (after closing SageTV & the service, of course), and then see what happens when you reboot. The service itself doesn't use an STV, so it won't matter to it what you list as the STV file in sage.properties.
OR: before doing that: Close SageTV & check both properties files. Which one lists the STV that you specified? If you are not using the service... never mind. - Andy

Ideas? Thanx. BTW - I tried closing the UI & ending the service. Then opening the Sage & Sageclient properties & changed them both to Cayars STV. I then rebooted & it opened the original STV. I closed the UI & reopened it & it opened Cayars. Strange. |

Ditto
I have the same problem. I am running Sage as a service in ver 2.1. I am also using the cayars15 stv. Also, sometimes when I boot up one of my pvr 250's don't record sound. Video is fine. Sound is off. When I check "Device Manager" it seems to be working fine.
When I have that problem. I have to shut down sage and sage service and then manually restart both of them. That fixes the problem. It is a pain however, because after reboot, I have to always check if Sage is recording sound on all of my pvr 250's! I am running win xp pro second edition, sage tv 2.1, cayars15 stv, 3 pvr-250's on an Athlon XP 1900 512 MB computer. |

A workaround, not a fix
So, until a fix arises, I've come up with a workaround.
By just delaying the startup of Sage it seems that my problems have gone away. Why this actually fixes it I'm not sure, but here's what I've done. First I downloaded a freeware program that merely delays for X seconds then runs a program. It's creatively called DelayExec by RJL Software (http://www.rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/delayexec/). In SageTV setup, I told it not to start at Startup. Then I made a small batch file, placed it in my SageTV folder (or wherever) and placed a shortcut in my Startup folder (telling it to start minimized). Code:
@echo off delayexec.exe "C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\SageTV.exe" 60 Hope it helps someone else until (hopefully) an actual fix is implemented in Sage. Snuffy2 |
