OK, I just loaded this on a new Windows 2003 build running the latest Sage 6.1.9. I run SageTV as a service.

Forgive me for not reading through all 79 pages. I noticed that it doesn't work unless the Sage UI is running. It won't work in service mode? Also, if I decide I want to uninstall it, how do I? I found no uninstallation instructions.

Thanks,
Robert

I run 2K3 in service mode and run this no problem. Did you run the installer?

Make sure the runtime loadable is in the sage.properties file.

B

PS Make sure the service is stopped when you install it.

Stopping / Removing the Webserver

Hello All,

How do I stop or remove the Sage webserver ... I am seeing some log entries that are disturbing. Are these log entries valid?????

Thanks,

Don't worry, thats just the people from sohu.com checking their mail on the new mail server you installed that came free with SageTV webserver.

CSS Problem? :(

First I gotta say I love this program. Its amazing!

Now the problem

Since installing the update 2.15, I have had lots of problems in Firefox with the CSS. The first time I load the page, I get lots of blank boxes on the recordings page and the miss text is flowing off the bottom of the page. I have attached the screenshot of this as well as the HTML from the page. Any ideas on whats going on? Is this FF bug? It happens on all my machines and all the computers use FF. I have not seen it with IE, but then again, I always load IE after I notice the bug in FF, so if its a webserver cold start problem then I am blowing it.

There is a second problem that also appeared. In the past I used to delete files via the webserver and it would bounce me back to the recordings page. Now I hit delete and I get "MediaFileId not found: 1029124" Not that it is a big problem or anything, but I kinda linked being bounced back to the recording page via now having to hit back several times.

Any help would be appreciated. This is a blip in an otherwise perfect product.

Thanks for the screenshot - and the HTML: I have been unable to reproduce this on my system... Turns out it is most likely a FF bug. Remove lines with min-width from sage_all.css and it should all be fine

It should still be doing that... how were you getting to the detailed info page?

Someone has noticed that you have a webserver, and is trying to use it as a proxy to read mail from another site. The webserver is not recognising the request and returning errors.

To stop the webserver, stop sage and remove the startup line from sage.properties (see install instructions).

Thanks for the tip with the CSS. Will try it out.

As for # 2
Menu - SageTV - Sage Recordings
Click on Recording in question
Click Set Watched
Click Delete Now
Get error message.
Click back 2x, hit refresh and the recording is gone like it should be.. albeit with the weird error message between.

That would be the greatest thing ever! I just told my wife that the SageTV computer is too old and slow, and she gave that "You want new computer stuff again?!" look! I just got a new dual-core primary system a few months back, so it'll be awhile until the sagetv gets updated...

How is this detected by someone? Is there any harm in them finding it?

Just wondering...

Bulk Import

Nielm - thanks for this interface, it has saved my bacon on numerous occasions.

I have a ton (maybe ton and a half) of old TV series in .mpg files that do not conform to the SageTV naming convention. I can get the .my and .property files associated with them through a bit of elbow grease. The holy grail is to get all of these beasties loaded into the Archive so as to use the Series/Episode layout in Sage (and make GF happy). I've been able to brute force one file through the "Edit Show info" process, but was hoping there was a way to bulk import one subdirectory at a time. Can you give me some pointers?

Addl info -> I have everything in Series/Episode form:
C:\TV\Manix Series 01\S01E01.MPG
C:\TV\Manix Series 01\S01E02.MPG
C:\TV\Manix Series 01\S01E03.MPG

C:\TV\Manix Series 02\S02E02.MPG
C:\TV\Manix Series 02\S02E03.MPG

Hey MacDaddy,

This is actually something I'm looking for as well... But in my case I have about 250 shows. Neilm replied to my thread here:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25012

He is currently working on a XML import based off his XML TV Show format. Last I PM'd him he was still coding it ..

Hey Fastrack - good to know another kindred soul. My GF has an uncle that was involved in several old Hollywood series. He sent her several full series DVD sets over the past few years. She's never really tried to watch them. Recently, we caught up on the last few episodes of Heroes and she commented how nice it would be if she could watch all of Rick's shows the same way we watched "normal TV" (thanks again Sage). The payoff would be huge if I could get these things into the conventional Sage framework.

Waiting patiently......

There are many thousands of virus/worm infected computers constantly scanning random IP addresses for vulnerable systems -- one in China found your PC, saw it had something running on a web/proxy port, and tried to use it. It is something you cannot really avoid without unplugging your computer from the internet!

Is there any harm in finding it? I am 99% sure that the webserver has no exploitable security holes, and even if it did, it is unlikely that anyone would ever find them as it is such a niche product. (most exploits target IIS and Apache). So, no.

You can always try using a different port -- I use 800 because my ISP blocks 80 incomming and my router blocks 8080, and I do not see any of these type of messages

He is currently working on a XML import based off his XML TV Show format. Last I PM'd him he was still coding it ..
It got implemented in the latest version 2.15 (sorry, should have posted in the other thread)

you need to create XML files of the format listed here, which in the simplist possible form, would look like:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE sageShowInfo PUBLIC "-//NIELM//DTD SAGESHOWINFO XML 1.2//EN" "http://www.sage-community.org/~nielm/nielm_modules/sagexmlinfo/sageshowinfo_1_2.dtd">
<sageShowInfo version="1.2">
    <showList>
        <show>
            <title>My Show Title</title>
            <episode>Episode Name</episode>
            <category>Category</category>
            <subCategory>Subcategory</subCategory>
            <description>This is a short description of the show</description>
            <airing
                    duration="3600"
                    startTime="2006-03-21T17:00:00.00Z">
                <mediafile
                        type="TV">
                    <segmentList>
                        <segment
                            filePath="C:\TV\Manix Series 01\S01E01.MPG"/>
                    </segmentList>
                </mediafile>
            </airing>
        </show>
    </showList>
</sageShowInfo>
The only odd criteria is that the file timestamp must be equal to the start time + duration, otherwise it looks like the show was recorded very early or very late.
I plan to work around that in a future version, and in the meantime it can be fixed with edit show info...

Each file will have a corresponding Show element...

Hi Niel,

In looking at my logs (To see if I had any intruders - I don't!) I have noticed that most of the entries are of the form:

[Wed May 09 03:43:10 PDT 2007] Malformed request line
[Wed May 09 03:48:26 PDT 2007] Malformed request line
[Wed May 09 03:53:27 PDT 2007] Malformed request line
[Wed May 09 03:58:28 PDT 2007] Malformed request line
[Wed May 09 04:03:44 PDT 2007] Malformed request line
[Wed May 09 04:08:45 PDT 2007] Malformed request line
[Wed May 09 04:13:45 PDT 2007] Malformed request line
[Wed May 09 04:18:46 PDT 2007] Malformed request line...

They seem to come every ~5 minutes. I thought that this might be coming from SageTray but I have it set to poll every 4 minutes and it isn't really continuous. The other possibility would be ShowAnayzer but it shouldn't be awake at 4am. Otherwise I don't think I have anything interacting with the Webserver. Any ideas about what this might be?

Lynn

Thanks Nielm (and Fastrack for pointing me this direction). Time to sling some code.
