Are you in a menu? This shouldn't happen at all. Can you explain?
I was in my recordings and was looking at some past recorded shows and wanted to see the OSD when video was playing
I clicked on a video but it never left the menu screens

so I could hear it but I was never taken to the video
and every button I tried like TV,back, mainmenu anything to try to get to that video screen did not work

I could not get the video to show up

I kept hitting ok but nothing
and tried several shows

Plus, that's less work than making something completely new right?
Ummm...right...

If you could keep the same look you have now, and allow browsing of the channels and timeline, that would be extremely cool.
I believe that the brochure mentioned that pushing the right arrow would show the next show, or something along those lines. I'd like to expand on their description by saying that we'll be able to browse forward, back, up, and down. And yes there would be absolutely no change in the look while doing this.

I'll check this out tonight. Sounds like there's an invisible preview window.

Okay so there's some uncertainty in what the music library should look like, and since there is no documentation on that we'll get creative. It was mentioned to me that a larger grid would be nice. Along with the mention, was the idea of taking the folder tabs idea a bit further. The suggestion was to add more tabs (I was imagining three would fit with the ability to scroll horizontally to the rest). The tabs would refer to genres for example <"All", "Rock", "Rap">. Selecting a different tab would filter the albums by the overlying genre. I like this idea.

On the same tabular folder browsing scheme, if we didn't do genres, it may be nice to have a tabular menu for changing the layout such as by artist list, search, etc.

What do you think?

Hi meekell,

You know my opinion on this!

I do like the idea of applying the tabs to other area's besides the genre. The only question/concern I have is with the coming implementation of the J-River Media Center plug-in. It seems that this would really make a nice music module for Sage. Perhaps it would be good to touch base with those that are working on this (I think 'salsbst' was one of the guys working on it) to see if this 'tabbed' UI concept could be implemented into what they are doing.

I've seen the J-River module in Meedio and it really does have some nice options, especially in the 'visuals' area which has always been Sage's weak point.

I currently use the JRMC plugin for Meedio and it is well worth the $11 bucks the developer is charging. It is a fully integrated solution and really extends the power of JRMC to an easy to use interface that Meedio provides. Now if Meedio would run for more than a day without crashing overnight.... sorry, wrong forum.

Channel numbers

Hi meekell

First of all, thank you so much for this. I can hardly believe that it has materialised and it is better than I ever imagined

Would you be able to add an option not to display the channel number in the guide etc - just the name of the channel. It seems kind of irelivant and uses up valuable space.

Great work.

Well it wouldn't be hard, but...Well what I may consider is adding an option to have: "Number - Name" , "Name", "Number", "Logo - Number", "Logo." This should be pleasing to everyone, and not much additional work, though you probably shouldn't expect much cosmetics until the majority of the must have features are added and functional.

I agree, there are some cases where the text is hard to read. I'm trying to emulate the teehan+lax doc but am missing the font (maybe I'll have to bold for now).

meekell,

SWEET! You've been working overtime with Studio! I'll d/l this tonight and leave some feedback tomorrow. I'm amazed how nicely this is coming together. I like the 'tabbed' music, I think it's heading in the right direction for navigation.

New version is looking REALLY good. I love the flow, and it is becoming extremely usable. I've promoted it to full time on my MVP in my bedroom, but am holding it back from my living room until comskip is implemented. My roommate has gotten addicted to it and freaked out when he had to start fast forwarding again...

One thing I noticed though, is that I can't get the weather images to appear, and it doesn't seem to be updating. I checked the paths in the .properties and put things where they're supposed to be, but can't figure it out.

Also, possibly related, I'm not getting channel logos on the main menu 'watch tv' selection. I get a 'record' on the first one, but that's it. I do see logos when looking at the show detail so I know they're at least partially working.

Any ideas on this?

comskip should be working behind the scenes. I haven't added any manual comskip options yet though. I checked a show that recorded a few hours ago, and it had detected the comercials. I'm Cayar's implementation from his 15 release, so it's very recent.

I admit this hasn't been completely refined, but it works for me. I already had mlbdude's stv looming in my sage dir. so I didn't have to configure anything. If it's working you should initially see "loading..." when weather is highlighted. It automatically displays the data as soon as its processed (with my setup ~30 secs). It starts the process as soon as the main menu is called. I think mlbdude had some sort of cache so it doesn't always go and fetch a new weather report if it doesn't have to. It looks for the weather images in the STVs\\OriginalV2\\MlbDude\\Default folder unless you specify otherwise in your properties file (mlbdude/right_image_root). I'll make the default for the next version look in the weather folder in the teehan-lax dir by default.

What version of sage are you using? I rounded the corners of the logo images, and recall that 2.1 didn't do this correctly. I'm running 2.2 and everything works fine here. I will revert back to non-rounded corners until this is completely resolved.

Just a heads up Meekell, Jere is working on some new stuff for the ComSkip section and I've added some new stuff to it since 15. Once I get the changes back from Jere I'll merge the two together. If I'm not ready to make a new release I'll shoot you a PM with a location you can d/l it from and get the new code.

Hmm, I must have managed to watch a couple of shows that didn't have comskip files yet. Glad to hear it's there!

As for the logos, you nailed the reason. I'm running 2.1 on both server and client, so that's why it wasn't working.

I'm waiting for the gold release because I've just finally gotten things stable, and don't want to muck anything up. Thanks for letting me know what was going on.

New version added this morning. The coolest feature added was the ability to sort the albums page by Genre. There's a little more work that needs to be done, but it works good so far. If the music file isn't tagged correctly it may display for instance "(15)." I would like to let the stv correctly deal with this. It's pretty useless unless you know what genre 15 represents.

See the first post for more details...

Fixed this is alpha_0_2_3.

Also thought I would quickly release the next version because I realized that the cover art had rounded corners which would not display correctly for sagetv v2.1.

Enjoy...
