Hi
I really like SageMCE (except the poor Music part, but that's a general Sage problem). Being in the Netherlands I use XMLTV for epg. When I try to search in "My TV" I get a nice list of categories created by the epg, but when I try to search within one of these categories nothing happens, I see no list of programs within any of the categories. The same happens when I select "Movies", I get a list of actions to be done (sort by date or title, etc), but there is no data to sort on. The Movie category probably cannot be found in my epg xml-file, because that only has Dutch words in it; the same applies for all the other categories in my epg. Is this part of the Sage functionality not (yet?) working in SageMCE for non English countries (and if so will that change in the future?), or am I doing something wrong? BTw in the original stv this function works correctly. Thanks and regards, jan |

The Movies and category search section in this STV need good category AND sub-category data. I would suspect that the XMLTV plugin is not providing sib-categories.

Thank you for the quick reply. It is true that my epgfile does not have any sub-categories, but the category data to me looks good. Since in original stv it works very well I wonder how problematic this is. Do you plan to make this work in your stv or is this purely a matter of the grabber and/or the plugin. If so, can you let me know which plugin or grabber is a working one?
Thanks and regards, jan |

There is no such thing a sub-categories in XMLTV -- just the possibility of multiple categories...
The importer (depending on which one you use) will put the first category it finds in the category field, and the second into the subcategory field, and this often does not give very sensible information! There is one XMLTV importer (not tried it myself) that has category translation as one if it's features -- you might want to check this out to see if it populates sub-categories... |

Would you know the name of this importer or (better) where to find it?
Thanks, jan |

You could try contacting Alan Birtles, he has been very responisive to Sage users in the past, and he does a great XMLTV downloader
See the site at http://www.alanbirtles.dsl.pipex.com/xmltv/xmltv.htm Cheers Mark |

birty,
Thank you, I don't know. I have not (yet) used your grabber. I have installed Demideus' importer/translater as suggested by Nielm. It now works partly: I can show upcoming movies and salso earch in a few categories. Demideus program translates my Dutch categories into English ones and for those that have sub-categories SageMCE lets me search. Could somebody please post a list of the American categories and their sub-categories? I can then try to use these for my translations. Thanks and regards, jan |

It works!!!!!!!!
By just repeating category as sub-category (in the translation file) I can now search by category. Since (I think) the source of my epgdata (tvgids.nl) only gives 3 sub-categories, all the others had to be repeated. Dibu: in Germany it may work differently (and better) because your source data is different and probably has more sub-categories. Thanks very much for all your help guys!! Regards, jan |
