Talking Sage Mod for MediaMVP...

Although it still has quite a ways to go...

Here is the initial installer of the SageTV Mod for the MVP...

We based it on our work with BTV, so there is MUCH still to do.

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.p....3.rar?rev=1.1

I have not released it to the Sourceforge File Release system, because I wanted to get some other feedback first...

We would appreciate, as always, any feedback that folks can give us. Please make it supportive and if possible, with some suggestions as to the resolutions that you need.

-Jason

EDIT: I have attached some initial pics... The file is 1.02 megs and the forum only allows a max of 750K for attachements so I cannot post any other format. If someone wants it in antoher format, PM me to give me your email and I will send it in .zip format.

Ok, looks nice but I get nothing when I select "Recorded Shows." Without a document on how ot set this up, I'm sure I'm missing how to map it into the SageTV system.

Is there an install document? Looking at the user_config.js file I see it is looking for a "recordings.xml" in my sageTV directory. How do I generate this file?

EDIT: OK, got it to work now...didn't know I had to enable mlbdude's data dump. Working now.

Wow, all recordings in one huge list. Anyway to mimic Malore's Recorings view? Also, is there a way to reduce the size of the font?

Thanks!

Don't know why he bothered to zip it up . Only saved a couple k, and not everybody has rar. I stuck it up on our web-server uncompressed if anybody wants it.

Wow, works and looks great! A tremendous improvement over the standard UI on the MVP. Much better for the WAF. I look forward to future improvements as well.

I may pick one of these up Friday, a $99 client for Sage would be so cool . If it gets pulled off and everything works (even LiveTV), it'll be a Microsoft Extender killer for sure (those boxes will be between 250-350 each).

Go over to NewEgg. They have the MediaMVP for $83.

I haven't tried it yet, but is the UI fullscreen? That is one thing I hate about the MVP is the UI isn't full screen. Video playback works awesome and is full screen but not having the UI doesn't pass the WAF.

Are you using PAL or NTSC? It should work on both. We are using a 'check' from within the HTML to re-size the screen.

I'm using NTSC. So it sounds like it will be full screen, that is great. Can't wait to try it this evening.

You have to enable the data dump in the sage.properties file. Edit the line that reads mlbdude/data_dump=false and change it to true. Make sure Sage is completely shut down before you attempt to edit.

First of all Jason.....Thank you!

This will be the best thing since sliced bread (IMO of course).

I cannot wait to try this out.

I have one innitial enhancement(change) request that Im pretty sure that could be done in a few seconds(if warranted)...What would you think about parsing out identification numbers after the titles( in the recorded shows, et.). If you need them in the back end, at least parse them out on the display side?

I.

Thanks Chrisc16. Got that working. Now it seems like the sound is very low and once I'm viewing a show, I can't go back to the menus. I think the problem may be in the MVP server (I'm running the latest beta from the Hauppauge site). I'm going to uninstall it and download the latest stable version, and reload the mod. What version of the MVP server are you running?

Ralnee,

I am using beta version 2.2 22223 from Hauppauge's site. Versions previous to that have issues with XP SP2. I don't have any sound issues at all though.

If you use the standard UI (uninstall the SageTV skin), do MPG's play ok?

FYI: data_dump should also function in the nielm STV (but I have not tested it!)

I was able to get the sound working (I tried it on another TV) but I'm still having the following problem. When I'm watching a recorded show, none of the remote control menu buttons seem to have any effect. The red led on the MVP blinks (which says that unit recieved the signal) but the program continues to play. I'm using the beta MVP server with 2_0_20 sage server.

Yes, the UI is full screen on NTSC.
If I haven't already said it Jason, this is a great mod. Thanks for the work....
