Metadata for older recordings getting broken
I had had this problem years ago, and it went away after upgrading to v9. Now it's back. Essentially, every couple weeks (or lately, even more often) a few dozen recordings get their metadata messed up big-time. Some show up as different shows to be recorded in the near future, and others show up as "no data." If I accidentally try to play one of the "future" shows, it plays something live and overwrites the original file (good thing I have backups!).
The files keep their original names, so it is possible (but time-consuming) to reconstruct the metadata. I have .properties files saved and can get a lot from that, but there's still a lot of manual effort. BMT hasn't been of much help, nor has invoking other rescanning methods (setting advanced_data_recovery to true, running scan imported media and rescan media). The latter two work only if I move the recordings and the .properties files to a folder Sage will recognize as import directories. I tried that for a while, but it wasn't any less work than manually editing each using the web interface or the Sage Gui, because I had to first determine the files involved, then copy or move them where they could be counted as "imported," do likewise with their properties files, scan (wait for that to finish - at least 15 minutes), then check. The explanation suggested when this was happening with V6, iirc, was that I was running out of episode IDs, and v9 allowed for more digits in ep guides, hence fewer shows getting ruined by re-use. Not sure what accounted for the no-data shows. While my library is large, I've heard of people keeping even larger ones and haven't seen discussion of this problem occurring lately to others. The files getting messed up were originally recorded in early 2015 or fall 2011. The dates advance each time, meaning that this month's batches have been from January 2015, while last month's were from December 2014, ones in August were from October 2014. The 2011 files (of which there are fewer) were recorded August 2011 (to be fixed August 2022), September 2011 (fixed Sept 2022), and not sure for the ones I fixed this month (didn't keep full records of those). The number of recordings this is happening to seems to be accelerating, and it's driving me crazy!

Getting desperate here!
Just bumping this in hopes that someone who can help will see it. It just spat out another 10 "future" recordings and 40-ish "no data"s. Somehow I need to make this stop and find a way to make cleaning up after it less time-consuming.
