win10 screen time out

On my new build I added a new led monitor. The problem I am having is I can get the sage screen saver with the sage logo to come on, but the monitor is still very bright in the dark room at night. I have tried to set the win10 screen time out, but it does not seem to work. Is this because sage is running on the screen?
When I was setting this up in my computer room I had 2 monitors hooked up on it and it worked fine. Now that I have moved it to my front room with a single monitor on it, it does not work. It was hdmi out to hdmi on monitor, hooked up this way it would not do anything.
I then installed a DVI to HDMI cable as my pc has both outputs on it. I then could get the above with the sage logo. I really want to get the monitor to turn off. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Wayne

There's a plugin called Monitor Power Control that should do what you want.

If that doesn't work, I use a utility called NirCmd.exe that has a lot of features, including a monitor command that lets you turn it off or set it to a low power state. YMMV but it's a free app and worth a quick try to see if it will turn it off.

Now, the caveat is that you would need to run the command in a batch file or script after a period of inactivity. I can think of 2 ways off the cuff to do this. The first is to use SageAlerts, which is only supported in Java 8 now. I don't use the screensaver, but hopefully it flags some event in the log that SageAlerts can use to execute a script that would wait some period of time (also an NirCmd feature) and then run the monitor off command.

The second way by using a utility program that monitors mouse/key activity and runs a script. In the past I used a program called ShutDownOne Home that can do this. It's an older program but supports Win7 so it will probably run on Win10, but I have never tried it. There are probably other apps that can do this too but you'd need to search.

Update
It turns out that it was not a sage problem as I thought it was. It was my old Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse that had been on my old machine for years. I tried several of the tools above and could make the screen go black and about 30 seconds later it would come back on. I had it in my mind that it was a sage problem because on the old machine I had a problem and new one was similar to old one. The common thing was the mouse and keyboard.
